I mean, so far I haven’t heard Gunbelievable say anything one way or the other about politics, just a lot of cutting snark at bad guns and manufacturers of them.
I’m told Forgotten Weapons may or may not be hiding fascist sympathies (I heard a rumor this is why he and Karl drifted apart), but I’ve watched them for years and haven’t actually seen anything like that with my own eyes, and the parties involved aren’t talking about it, so… he’s fairly impartial? Maybe? I haven’t yet seen anything concrete to suggest he’s a big Trump fan.
This is not to say I know for a fact they’re solidly in the “good guntube” camp like Karl, just that I can’t point to anything that says “this person is a cunt”
Ian/Forgotten Weapons I’d file under “impartial to an actual fault.” He wanted to publish the combat memoir of a Ukrainian self-avowed Nazi and got absolutely blasted by his followers for it, to the point where he dropped the idea. I don’t think it was because he himself has Nazi sympathies, but that he sees things through the lens of “all viewpoints are valuable from a historical perspective even if the person giving it is flawed.” If I remember right he wasn’t exactly gracious about learning any sort of lesson and was more or less just caving to pressure.
For what little it’s worth, I still support him as a creator because I think he does good…historical? work that few others are doing or have the access to do.
As for Karl and Ian…I’ve seen this posted publicly before so I feel okay repeating it. “Fascist tendencies” was only a part of it, and IIRC that took the form of “Ian and others refused Karl’s call to disavow or even ban certain openly hateful people from a specific shooting match and assert an environment of inclusivity/2A for all” Whether or not that refusal constitutes being fascist on its own is up to you.
That might have been what started the second and probably meatier thing. Ian started spinning up his own “Brutality” shooting matches with no relation to InRangeTV, and to this day they are running two parallel but separate entities. It gets a bit he-said-she-said from here without being able to look at the evidence. Karl alleges that this was in breach of a verbal agreement to tie-in any “Brutality” match with ITV. Karl also alleges that Ian’s matches were copying shooting stage layouts and instructions from his matches, sometimes verbatim. All that seemed to be what really irritated Karl and caused the more permanent split. He has no nice things to say about Ian at this point and prefers that he not be brought up at all.
Alright, enough gossiping like a high school girl. Black Flag Civilian is a pretty good vaguely leftist guntuber, though he’s kind of limited to militia-esque stuff and how-to’s and not traditional gun reviews. He’s been doing a lot of things with mesh messaging networks recently, reading between the lines it’s for counter-ICE communication.
