  • Volvo belongs to Geely which owns a few other brands focused on electric cars such as Polestar and Zeekr.

  • Bezos bought WaPo in 2013, and for the most part he seemed largely hands off for nearly a decade.

At the time there was no need to interfere.

  • Relatierbar.

  • There is still freedom of movement for workers between the EU and Switzerland.

  • Joining the UK might shift the balance towards EU membership.

  • What's the point of satire if it can't keep up with how bizarre reality has become?

  • It's not necessarily about transistors/mm^2, there is also power consumption and clock frequency. Back in the mid-2000's clock frequencies stopped just under 4GHz and then went down for a few years before going back up to way past 4GHz in the last ten years or so.

  • GlobalFoundries is still in Dresden, but the smallest process they have there is 12nm. They're just not at the forefront anymore and focus on other market segments.

  • TSMC is building in Europe too, specifically in Dresden, Germany, but it's afaik a 20nm fab mostly for automotive chips.

  • If I'm not entirely mistaken there is still some basis to the nanometre number, it just doesn't refer to the actual smallest feature size or gate pitch anymore. Basically in the mid-2000 Dennard scaling stopped working and ever since the nanometre numbers are "made up". Dennard scaling was how most progress was made by just shrinking transistors. But that doesn't mean just because Dennard scaling doesn't work anymore there is no progress, it's just harder to achieve. So the semiconductor manufacturers just continued naming their fabrication methods as if Dennard scaling still worked. So basically a modern "3nm" process is equivalent in some way to what would theoretically be possible if you had an actual 3nm process.

  • Den Quadratmeterpreis für Mieten kannst du in Städten grundsätzlich noch mit der durchschnittlichen Anzahl an Stockwerken multiplizieren.

  • I agree. I watched the entire show and while not bad it never really felt like they had any idea what they really wanted to do with it. You can't really do much character development with characters that are a few hundred years old.

  • What do you mean local officials are worried? Who approved this?

  • It's a critique of class differences, which is not limited to capitalism. North Korea is not a country I would call capitalistic, yet there are extreme class differences. Maybe that's why they don't want their people to watch Squid Game. This type of critique is also not limited to Squid Game, it can be seen in a lot of K-Dramas and korean films, Squid Game just shows it in a more brutal way.

  • For social media an important point is inertia/network effects combined with marketing. And I think a lot of open source/decentralised advocates are not good at marketing, while at the same time network effects can't kick in due to lack of content. Because ultimately most people don't care about it being open source or decentralised, most people care about content. If your favourite youtuber is not on peertube, then why use peertube. If your favourite celebrity is not on mastodon/pixelfed/loops then why use those. If there is no community for your favourite sportsball team on lemmy/piefed why join those platforms?

  • On one side there’s a fenced-off neighborhood

    Noise pollution is a thing.

  • Nebula is the youtubers advertising for their own platform. It's like "like and subscribe" or "subscribe to my patreon".

  • It's fine as long as the cyclists aren't fast and there's enough space.
