  • Once Russia defeats Ukraine, I think it's very possible that Hungary and Slovakia are going to end up exiting the EU and joining BRICS. Right now, they're surrounded by hostile countries, and have no direct route to the east, but once Ukraine falls the situation changes completely. And I think at that point, other countries might follow as well.

  • Oh for sure, it's likely that the casualty ratio favors Russia because of systemic advantages Russia enjoyed. But even if we accept a roughly 1:1 ratio, this is an utter disaster for Ukraine. Him exposing how they cook the numbers was really interesting though. They basically did a big data dump, and just banked that nobody would go through it thoroughly the way these guys did to uncover all the data quality issues.

  • The point here is that the numbers are generally misreported, and as a result people have a very skewed perception of the state of the war. It turns out that neither side has a massive advantage in terms of casualties, but Ukraine has a far lower population to draw on. So, it's clear that Russia is winning the war of attrition. These numbers also show that the whole narrative about Russian meat wave assaults and paying really high cost for taking territory is also just propaganda.
