  • I assumed this was created using some mobile phone editor that doesn't support something this "advanced".

But I agree, black font + white border (or vice versa) is ideal.

  • Unrelated, but I feel like brown is among the worst font colors they could've chosen for the caption.

You don't even have to use something obnoxious like neon green. Other unobtrusive colors like black or yellow would've worked well without blending in at the bottom.

  • Right, I didn't consider this.

But I don't think a protogen has very high voltages though. Humans produce around 100 W of heat at rest so a protogen cannot produce much more without being significantly hotter. And since P = U * I there's just so much voltage there can be to actually reach the drowning guy through all that water AND have sufficient current to cause damage.

I feel like it's probably safe.

  • I don't think so? Even if the water were to short and kill the proto, I don't see why the electricity would travel all the way to the drowning guy unless he'd be touching the proto. People are pretty bad conductors with high resistance and electricity tends to go for the best way to ground.

Though I'd imagine for very high voltages the electricity may discover your ion-rich blood is a decent enough conductor to make up for the resistance of your skin. Or you may have a cut somewhere bypassing your skin entirely.

  • A couple things:

    1. Drones are male bees whose only purpose is fucking the queen and then dying. They're not really in need of a union or maternal leave.
    2. Even if this offer were for workers, it's pretty empty too. Paid vacation, union rights and maternal leave are mandatory by law already over here. Also worker bees are female and cannot take maternal leave due to infertility (and presumable lack of adoption rights in the hive)
    3. What if we overthrew the monarchy instead of joining it? Jkjk... unless?? 😳
  • Yeah, FBI and or CIA would be (are?) the US's Gestapo. I mean, they already have torture facilities to get false confessions.

  • What a nice company, providing its employees with free product samples!

  • Oh no, the workers have weapons! Anyways...

Marx died shortly after front-loaded muskets were replaced by the earliest rifles. You know, guns so terrible, a worker and trained soldier were somewhat matched.

From what I've heard, small arms were plenty available to civilians during the siege of Sarajevo. Yet they were absolutely worthless because it turns out modern soldiers are several orders of magnitude better equipped and deadly.

  • By fucking obviousness.

At least that's what a court would rule, likely with more formal terminology.

  • I'd purchase one if it 100% reliably cleaned both me and itself after use, without any (further) user interaction.

  • Renewables aren't enough but nuclear is not the solution. Emergency gas powerplants are the only economically sound way due to their flexibility.

The concept of "base load" will likely disappear within the next 20-30 years. And without a base load, nuclear powerplants are possibly even less economical than if you were to burn paper money to generate and sell electricity.

  • Bing/DDG has also blocked the emulation wiki (https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/) for some reason. I noticed when I forgot the domain and tried looking for the site.

For the record, Google returns it as the top result.

  • As a non-native speaker, wouldn't "at the very right" be the more natural variant? I don't recall hearing anyone use "far [direction]" for describing positions in images.

  • No? Two separate pieces of information aren't two factors.

But this would be the factor "ownership" and "knowledge". Anyone attempting to hack into OP's account needs both the paper (or a copy thereof) AND the password. Just like withdrawing money from ab ATM requires the card and a PIN.

Though the fact you can easily copy the paper makes it a pretty weak "ownership" factor. Just like how using eye color would be a pretty weak "identity" factor.

  • To elaborate, it's really easy to forge "regular" coins and really attractive to forge high value coins.

For example, the 1 British Pound coin was, before the redesign, widely forged:

As of March 2014 there were an estimated 1,553 million of the original nickel-brass coins in circulation,[6] of which the Royal Mint estimated in 2014 that just over 3% were counterfeit.

(Note for any languages that use the comma as a decimal separator: 1,553 million is referring to 1.5 billion)

  • needs to accomodate

Wants to accomodate. Induced demand is a thing.

It also works in reverse: Slowly remove lanes and sooner or later it will somehow accomodate everyone that needs to use it. Either by making the inner city more dense or by businesses moving away and distributing more.
