I want to make a game where you seize all the assets of the rich and need to make decisions on how to best redistribute the wealth to the people and/or public serving projects and infrastructure. Of course whatever you choose, there will be someone unhappy with it, so you have to try and balance things to prevent angry riots or being overthrown by some other group who feels they can do better, while the deposed rich class and their sympathizers keep trying to cause trouble and regain power. Kind of like a Sim Revolution. Hmmm
Can't deny it can be a sick look, but I don't want to emulate the hoity toities too much. Stovepipe is relatively common and everyday wear (in its time) as compared to the similar but distinctly more formal and upper class top hat
What are you doing that's more effective so we can emulate it? Legit question, I'll do more if I know what it is that needs doing and is realistically doable (hence asking what you are personally doing about it)
I'm with you there, the lack of boredom-based drive and opportunities, and the constant distracting dopamine drip feed, are real things. At least in the circles I've found myself in, it's been really cool to see so many people picking up on that and making deliberate efforts to avoid over-convenience and constant low effort entertainment. Lots of people ditching smartphones, adopting the "treat the internet as a place you go instead of a constant presence" philosophy, setting up their own websites and homeservers, people getting into more non-digital tools and hobbies, and stuff like that. It's been a great source of hope and optimism for me in these wild times
You sound like you're supportive of your friend so good on you for that. That's important for folks who have parents that don't seem to understand their kids and get nasty or stubborn about it instead of trying to learn. Stay strong and keep helping your friend know you like them just the way they are. Sorry their dad is being a goober and that you're being affected by the current nonsense in this country.
