I run 16 Bit Virtual Studios. You can find more reviews from me on YouTube youtube.com/@16bitvirtual or other social media @16bitvirtual, and we sell our 3D Printed stuff on 16bitstore.com
It works with a usb bluray drive. Though I got an internal bluray drive for my PC
MakeMKV to backup the contents and if you need it in a different format Handbrake so it can be converted to MP4.
A $50 used ipad is always a better deal than a $80 fire tablet
What I did was I went to the thrift store and I found a laptop. It was the Asus Transformer Book T100han.
I had one when it was new. It was a POS but hey it worked really well in my use case I was thinking of.
Got it home booted it, has Windows 10 1501 installed on it. Refused the update. (The perfect windows machine does exists)
Updated it to 22h2 bricked it by running out of the limited 32GB of storage.
Said screw it got Linux Mint on a USB installer. Installer crashes. Tries Ubuntu… also crashes. Tries OpenSuse, also crashes. Tries Fedora also crashes.
Turns out the installer requires more than 2GB of ram. Laptop only has 2 and it’s soldered. (The e waste special)
Gets Debian installs it. Gets to desktop, no Bluetooth, no audio, but everything else runs better than I ever saw it. Needs older distro.
Gets Q4OS installs fine, runs as well and audio works. No Bluetooth. My very specific use case requires Bluetooth.
Forces myself to go back to windows. No recovery image. Downloads from MS, can’t create media because my PC is on Linux. Boots into VM, makes installer. Installs Windows. No audio no Bluetooth.
Gets drivers from asus website. Everything works but audio. Calls asus support gets drivers. PC is back to when I got it.
Pair Bluetooth controller, installs auto hotkeys, installs libre office. Best teleprompter I’ve ever used.
Shoves into box until it’s needed again.
There’s a few thing ecosia still gets wrong or offers the wrong answer. But 80% of the time it is correct.
Using it on all my devices.
They mention redump.org, so it seems legit. Uploading.
For anyone who want’s it as a reference my MD5sum is 6ac0bd9ce061db2a6da03fb1bb89950d
I mean I would need to know what the problems were with my printer. When I had an Ender3 v1 and I was debating upgrade or switching. I went with switching since the machine had fundamental issues which couldn’t be fixed or the solution was not guaranteed to fix it.
I like it when the Gremlins and the protagonist is one and the same. Looking at you Ascendance of a bookworm
A 3D printer is a tool first and foremost.
These days outside of poorly designed fire hazards any model you can get will be good.
For my two cents avoid the following traps.
all plastic construction. Looks nice but assume you will need to service it at some point.
no spare parts available. Basically go on Amazon and type “print bed for model of printer” and if you find nothing it’s not getting parts or service.
What to get then. Brands are fickle so these are the features I look for.
thermal run away protection. If it doesn’t have the run away yourself.
heated bed. Helps with adhesion
removable build plate. Easy service and since the build plate is consumable good to have
auto bed leveling. It’s not 2018 and manual leveling is a waste of time.
direct drive extruders. Bowden isn’t bad but if you want consistency direct drive really helps
Brands I would recommend is Creatily since it’s a good budget machine (do research first their naming is crap) and Prusa since most machines are based off of theirs.
Nope, dasie chaining multiple link cables. Apparently 4 player adapters only work with 4
Born in the mid 90s in Canada. You guys should’ve seen the state of book fairs in Canada. It was easier to pay via cheque than credit card.
I developed a Unity Plugin to utilize this. Was really good to see if another one of your own apps was installed
Cinnamon for 2 reasons
KDE is missing a lot of features which still only works in Gnome. Like the taskbar Calendar app syncing events with services like Google Calendar
cinnamon is extremely stable and doesn’t move your icons around when you connect to an external display with your laptop and the display has a different resolution.
Yes Flippy Drive (fixed the og post). Ahh gotta love Apple’s auto correct
You loose out on automatic updates and not all packages are easy to build. I am not personally familiar with building Gimp. But I’ve tried to build other projects from GitHub only to get errors I couldn’t decipher.
It’s a skill which not many have.
Debian/Ubuntu/Mint packages are always older and only get updated once everything is stable.
If you are looking for more up to date packages I would recommend using FlatPaks or AppImages since they are usually maintained by the devs and kept up to date.
I made a video a while ago going over the DS line if you want to watch my opinion: https://youtu.be/LAzUY1L0yOE
If you want to go into the nitty gritty 3DBrew has a wiki for it: https://3dbrew.org/wiki/Hardware
However to directly answer your question. 3DS, 2DS and 3DS XL do have minor differences between the versions, at their core are the same machines with an ARM 9 Processor.
3DS was the original release, and while it’s hardware hasn’t aged well. The system sold well enough.
2DS was a budget friendly option, going as low as $99 USD with game bundles. The system only had a single display pretending to be a dual screen.
3DS XL was for those who wanted a bigger screen. Bigger didn’t mean more pixels. Just physically larger.
The New Nintendo 3DS line N3DS, N3DSXL, and N2DSXL were the ones with hardware upgrades and are worth a pretty penny. If you were looking to emulate more than what Nintendo offered this is the one to get.
However if you want more details I’d watch some videos going over them. It’s hard to understand their differences without seeing it.
Then you’ll definitely want an DS or DS Lite and the R4 since you can backup your cart and make your own ROM with it.
The GBxCart is also another good value backup tool.
3DS and DS games are best backed up on a modded 3DS
Since doing things legit is off the table. All you need is a modded 3DS.
With a GBA injector you can play emerald and leaf green/fire red on your 3DS.
With an R4 you can play the DS games, but the Twilight menu++ you can play the DS games on system, and with cia installers you can get the 3DS games too.
If you want to keep things…… authentic. A DSLite plus 3DS is all you need since Everdrive for gba and R4 for DS works. Plus you can transition early and keep playing the same saves on 3ds.
Only considerate is if you need the IR from Heart Gold or Black 1 or 2. Twilight Menu I think allows you to use non Pokemon games with IR as a substitute… can’t remember what game. But I think it works.
Not when it’s not installing because of the lack of swap
