The way Trump views everything and everyone around him are as winner/loser, master/slave, dom/sub type relationships. I think he genuinely believes the USA has fallen into the loser nation category hence "make america great again". Apparently his first term didnt fix that. Europe, especially the smaller nations in it, already fall into the loser category because they rely on America for defense. It's been a long term gripe of Republicans that the USA contributes the most to NATO while Europe with a few exceptions doesn't even contribute 5% of their budget.
Taking Greenland means a few things: securing the future of the USA even when it won't have the fighting power it has now, pressuring the Euros to increase military spending and reduce social spending, and making Trump look important which he likes.
Didn't he say before that "Greenland is crawling with Chinese and Russian ships "? Like I'm sitting here imagining a Russian and Chinese agent together dressed in a polar bear outfit and it's really funny.
WHEN MELORD RIDES BACK FROM THE WAR, HE SHALL SURELY BLESS US ALL WITH THE SPOILS AND NOT HOARDE IT ALL FOR HIMSELF AND SELL IT TO US FOR OBSCENE PRICES. GOD BLESS MELORD THE CHEVERON CORPORATON GOD BLESS HIM VERY MUCH INDEED
The thing with ICE is that they have only acted as a weapon of class war, not really to "cleanse the nation" of all immigrants as much as fascists want that to be the case. The jackboots get deployed in hardware stores and other places working class Latinos are known to congregate and in front of some houses in the cities but that's it. Latinos in richer suburbs are mostly doing fine. Those would be the bulk of people celebrating. Maybe the poorer ones too? Idk.
The last time I pressed my dem congresscritter about keeping the US military out of Venezuela, he blabbered about checks and balances and how the President actually needs approval from Congress before going to war. 🤓
Mind you the last time the US formally declared war on anybody in this manner was in WWII. So much for those "checks and balances". Still, it gets the libs up and moving against this administration's recent actions. So probably not a bad place to start if you're stateside like me.
Trump dismisses criticism he did not seek congressional permission for Venezuela strike
Trump brushed off criticism from U.S. Democratic lawmakers that he did not seek permission from Congress ahead of time and that the strike was illegal. He called his Democratic critics “weak, stupid people” and blaming his political opponents for inflation in the U.S.
He said the operation in Venezuela was “really genius.”
“All they do is complain,” he said of the Democrats.
“They should say, ‘Great job.’ They shouldn’t say, ‘Oh Gee, maybe it’s not constitutional.’ You know, the same old stuff that we’ve been hearing for years and years and years,” Trump said.
Trump basically threatening Claudia Sheinbaum now, according to AP
Trump said the operation in Venezuela “wasn’t meant to be” a message to Mexico, but then he has proposed to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum that the U.S. “take out” cartels in her country and suggested the U.S. might take action.
“We’re very friendly with her, she’s a good woman. But the cartels are running Mexico. She’s not running Mexico. The cartels are running Mexico,” Trump said.
He said he’s asked Sheinbaum numerous times, “Would you like us to take out the cartels?” but she has said no.
“Something’s going to have to be done with Mexico,” Trump said.
