california comrade rooting for the orcas killin yachts

  • yeah that was a pretty decent flick

  • Operation back klaus

  • fair enough. it is quite a slog anymore and will only get worse so i'm glad folks are supporting another way because maybe we'll all end up needing it

  • i just can't fathom needing to pay for search results though.. maybe because i'm so used to the trash that is google now, but somehow i still find what i need

  • My pixel on google-fi works fine for this. I've used it in a pinch when my home fiber goes down and it works well.

  • so you have to screw on the tube every time? who has time for that?

  • what's the number for ICE? 119?

  • my partner grew up in Asia and was horrified to find out that some Americans wear shoes indoors.

i grew up that way though. it was so common that it bordered on offensive for someone to ask me to remove my shoes at the door.

I've been with my partner for 15 years now so I'm completely used to taking my shoes off when i go to people's houses and i understand just how disgusting it is to not remove them.

my mom came to visit for the first time in 5 years and weeks and wore her shoes the entire time, only taking them off to use the shower to go to bed. i meant to tell her right off the bat but kept getting distracted by all the tea spilling and then it was just too late to tell her after the first couple days.

we ended up buying a steam cleaner and did the whole house after she left.

  • incredible stamina folks, many people are saying it

  • agreed. People who only access US state media / western media can avoid the uncomfortable truth for now but there are large cracks in the narratives and eventually it won't hold.

I imagine we'll be at war before then though

  • hmm but where is the science?

  • For Thanksgiving dinner we went to the neighbors' house and they had some older folks over that they used to work for. The old man was the smiliest guy and laughed at everything.

Topic turned to cars because neighbors just bought a hybrid and were loving it. Then my neighbor guy mentioned that China's EVs are supposed to be the best in the world and far cheaper, and I agreed that is what I've heard as well.

The overall completely mild-mannered old man almost lost his shit. He got red in the face and muttered something about China's cars probably just fall right apart on the road as you drive them, and those poor poor factory workers are probably dying to make that possible.

I told him that's a silly thing to say and that China is far more advanced in manufacturing than anyone else in the world. I told him they even have factories that are fully automated and run in the dark. He turned to me and mocked me and laughed right in my face.

It was really something to see. They left about 2 minutes after that when the old man decided he'd had enough of sitting with these commie lovers.

  • Silver lining would be no more econ classes either right? Right?

  • I'm sure China will take ft.com article under advisement

  • My shins feel scraped just looking at this
