  • Jason Clower's awesome, he's a real University professor, and these videos were part of a real 300 level college that gave real accredited college credit.

I've watched all of his videos, lol, he's great. I actually learned about him from an IRL friend that's into guns, rather than China or Politics.

  • I've posted stuff in the Discussion thread, and I've talked about it in the Mod Chat.

I think if you keep all or most of the megas pinned because visibility, the people that made the complaints the admins are trying to address won't be satisfied at all. That list is a lot of posts, and pinned posts would still take up most to all of the screen on load. I feel like visibility is just contradictory with the goals of this experiment. Keeping all the megas and portalling the events is a decent idea, one that I think most people will agree with, just not the people that want 1-3 pinned posts total and complain about pinned post bloat (even though you can make them disappear, and the take no time at all to scroll by). They're a small group that wants to minorly inconvenience everyone, rather than have to deal with an even more moderate and minor inconvenience, so I think we really should just ignore them. It's such a selfish, uncommon, and unpleasant that most people just want it back to normal, and the few people that are trying to find a compromise don't actually themselves believe it's a big deal.

But the mods and admins seem to really care about that minority opinion a lot, they talk about the opinions of people that don't even seem to exist in the thread. If they can't get something with very few pinned posts, I think they'll just return to normal, then try a very similar experiment. I honestly think it's likely they'll keep doing it, over a long timespan, until people finally agree to have basically no pinned posts.

Thanks, I like it too. Maybe they could have it as a pinned comment so it's more visible than the post body?

  • There's like 150 to 1,000 km between each Starlink, not even counting the 3d-ness of space. They'd be lucky to catch one ICBM with a Starlink-interceptor, Starlinks just wouldn't have the propulsion to get there, much less get there in time.

  • if you had "tankies" with wealth and power, he'd have been targeting them

The PSL, along with a number of other Marxist-Leninist and progressive groups, is backed by an American multi-hundred-millionaire left-winger, Neville Singham. I haven't found him in any of the Epstein files at all, and he's a quite wealthy and powerful guy, along with being a literal tankie.

the kind of wealthy socialite Epstein was doing, you would have to abandon your communist principles entirely

This might be true though, but I think the emphasis might be more on "the kind" and "socialite" than wealthy. Doing stuff with Epstein kinda requires abandoning your principles it seems, if you had any, even if those principles weren't at all communist. Pedophilia being bad is a nominally common principle.

  • The funny bit about that is that the new Trump admin has gotten rid of a lot of people in the military he didn't like. And even just normal bureaucrats.

Biden fired ("purged") a number of Trump people as well. He left way too many, though, it was kinda shocking.

  • guncadindex

Exactly! I would have recommended r/fosscad, if it hadn't been banned. There's a Rocket Chat where there's a bunch of beta models that I'm in too.

3d printed guns, at least partially, are just so easy and convenient. It's also super easy to CNC a lot of 3d printed gun stuff, which is awesome. After all, most modern firearms are mostly polymer, and PLA+ is the common mans polymer.

The older make it in the metal shop is still possible, you can find a bunch of designs, books, and manuals on Odysee. There's even a number of modern newly designed metal shop guns. There's some hardware store guns that are new, and meant to be a little safer than the old models.

  • P320

    bang

    haha made you look

but no, fr, a Tikka would be fun too. I think it's really up to your budget though, how much do you want to spend on ammo vs on your rifle, etc?

Though if you're in a state where they've already banned a good chunk of semi-automatic rifles, you might want to buy the Mini-14 while you still can. Gun control folks won't be satisfied while there's still exceptions, and in lots of states the restrictions just keep coming, slowly, but eventually.

  • A lot of his fanbase are pedophiles, including fairly high-up "lieutenants", and he's acknowledged it a number of times. They barely conceal it, that ice snowflake symbol and the term 'p are just dead givaways. He doesn't appear to really be a pedophile himself though.

I think there's a much simpler explanation than him being a pedophile, it's just meta post irony. It's exactly the kind of thing that would appeal to the young disaffected right-wing males that make up his base, he can say and do wild things and it only makes his charisma with them stronger. It appeals to the pedophiles in his base, but everyone that already likes him isn't going to be put off by this. Making light of the situation like this might even gain him anti-pedophile followers, oddly enough.

He does live in China now, but for most of Epsteins socializing and being terrible he was here in America.

Like FunkyStuff said, most of the powerful and wealthy tankies are outside of the global north. There just aren't that many communists in America, at all.

  • Would Black Panthers endorsing the Soviets actions in Czechoslovakia count them as tankies? Or do all Tankies have to endorse the earlier invasion of Hungary, disqualifying both many of them and a number of us Hexbears?

I think you just might not know that much about the Black Panther Party, and Marxism-Leninism, as you think you do. Tankie is just a term people use willy-nilly to smear their opponents who generally hold the correct opinion, and I see it regularly deployed against people who opposed both invasions, and are anarchists. Many people on .world have claimed that .db0 is a tankie instance, despite them all being anarchists, mostly because they hold some bog standard socialist opinions.

  • But didn't they wholeheartedly endorse those AES countries that did exactly the stuff you're criticizing?

And Eldridge Cleaver, a prominent Black Panther Party leader and its "information minister," publicly defended the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. He literally visited Moscow after it happened in 1968, endorsed the tanks, and criticized the Soviets for even letting Czechoslavakia start liberalizing and de-communism-izing in the first place. Other Black Panthers didn't really say much about Hungary or Czechoslavakia, since it largely wasn't relevant to the things they were doing.

https://www.marxists.org/history/etol/newspape/bulletin/v05n02-w091-sept-16-1968-Bulletin.pdf Here's an anti-Stalinist "socialist" newspaper from the time, scroll down a bit and you'll find the stuff about the Black Panther Party and Eldridge Cleaver.

  • America is going all in on dumb cryptocurrencies which expose everything (including all of their fraud, lmao), and they don't like Monero. We should be asking ourselves, why is that? Why is our biggest adversary, Big Satan, such an opponent of Monero? If the US government is leaning away from Monero, then maybe we should be using it to fund

    , to buy
, all while having it look just like redacted to them.

Bitcoin is an open ledger dependent on extremely heavy computation and a value store backed by nothing, two peak Capitalism brained things to have and put all of your money into. What if you could be one of those gold(futures)bugs, but with an even worse environmental impact? And telling the government exactly where and what your assets are? Generally connected directly to your real identity, and even your real ID? That's also a massive scam in favor of Trump and his friends? Sounds brilliant.

  • oh yeah lmao, I remember the Arch Linux dual booting page having notes about how Windows could mess up your system BIOS time thanks to that. Why would one make the intentional repeated choice of doing time objectively wrong?

  • Also, the General mega has a portal at it's bottom, maybe make some small changes to make it clear this is how we should access megas, and pin just this (and real, actual important site announcements). Or we could have all that portal text at the bottom of News, and have that pinned instead. Having the portal at the bottom of every mega would be cool, be like a web chain, we wouldn't need the links from the site-pin (though the new comments are the important part that everyone cares about for the site pin).

Also, if the portal is also a mega, people that run portal posts (i.e. mega posters, blorptube, book clubs) can comment that the link should be updated, and the person who can edit the portal will see it in their inbox.

  • Hexbear's slow loading is making the portal a bit of a pain. I'm having to spend a lot more time loading, and a lot of what I'm loading is stuff I loaded earlier, since I can't tell if there's new comments.

  • It's really funny how Windows doesn't have real Network Time Protocol. Whenever people need a clock that isn't wrong on Windows (Js8call, for example), they have to install a whole separate piece of GUI software to manage their clock. timedatectl is a part of systemd, so it's on basically every Desktop Linux installation, and so we all have accurate clocks. And even beyond NTP, systemd can do other even more precise internet time standards, it's awesome.

  • Yeah, it's a pretty decent substitute. It can shoot 5.56 just as well as an AR-15, and there's a theory that it looks less scary (especially with wood) than all those all-black AR-15's, so it'll hold up better in court. An AR is just better though, a lot of those banned features like the pistol grip are good. AR's tend to be cheaper, since there's just so many parts manufacturers, some very focused on getting the price down so they can sell more. AR-15's have objectively better magazines, but it's not a huge deal. Tbh generally guns that are better than a Mini 14 are banned if you're in a state where the AR-15 is banned, so the Mini 14 might genuinely be your best option.

A handgun might be a good option instead, for two simple reasons. Pistol ammo is way cheaper, and you go through it slower, so you can spend way more time at the range. Prices fluctuate, but it's generally about half the price for 9mm vs .223/5.56. The other reason is it's way better for personal defense, since you can keep it a lot closer and pull it out quicker in your house, and unlike a rifle, you at least have the choice of carrying it outside your house. If you're in an AR ban state, concealed carry might be tough. There's some states where you can concealed carry as an inherent right, no paperwork or police visits, it's very cool. Pistols are also almost never banned, unless you're in California lmao. A Ruger 10/22 might similarly be of interest, for ammo pricing.

Consider training with Stop the Bleed and First Aid, and getting an Individual First Aid Kit from somewhere like North American Rescue. If you can make holes, you should be able to patch holes. Also, head over to your local gun store, you probably shouldn't tell us where you live, but your local gun store will know the good legal stuff.

I'm going to the range with friends in a few days, we're lucky enough to live in a state with decent gun laws. We've got AR's, shotguns, a bolt-action rifle, and pistols that some of us conceal carry. We can manufacture our own firearms legally and easily. It's awesome.

  • Unfortunately, nowadays a lot of people just don't care if they get accused of an "-ism", especially if they are that thing. Twitter guy was ableist, got accused of ableism, and just went "yeah, and?", and then all their friends started clowning on the accuser.

It carries literally no weight on Twitter anymore. Even left-wing people there seem to have stopped caring, since right-wing trolls sarcastically accuse them of "-ism"s all the time.
