  • We would, but what other choice would we have if if happened? Just kowtow to the US? Fuck that. Would it suck and make everything horrible? Yes, but not like Ukraine had an option when their war started.

  • Yeah the dude flips more than a light switch. He says what he thinks sounds good for that moment. That's the limit of his ideals, unless it makes money then he does that.

Cause he's a greedy narcissist. Really that's all you need to know, if it benefits him (I think he thought calming down rhetoric during that speech would make him appear better) he does it, that's it. No deep end, no big 4d chess, he's simpler than peasants portrayed in movies.

  • He'd bend over and ask for Canada to take more. Nothing I've read from him sounds like a proper leader of this country. He's as whiny as a toddler like the neighbor's 'leader'. Calling that thing a leader is laughable, he couldn't lead a train on the track unless there was a pile of gold in sight.

  • Mental health needs a big reform in North America, unsure if it's dealt better with in the EU (appears to be) but sure as hell is rarely considered here.

Like we're all expected to be mindless cogs in a machine. It's awful. If only there were better solutions.... And yes I know there are but not acknowledged around these parts.

Nah just let people crank out children with abandon, by odds enough of them will work right?

  • Hopefully it pans out as the neighbor. But I still totally agree with that statement even if it fucks us, then if it does but we won't roll over quietly...I hope. Fascists cannot be appeased, let alone toddler narcissists who want their next soother. Someone needs to put that baby to bed. Placating but not appeasing them I mean, like you do a fussy toddler, not saying violence. No teaching this toddler but sometimes they can understand their place and stop making as big of a fuss and have a minor one when he doesn't get his diet coke.

  • It's on Merriam webster site as a word, what's your question?

  • I read it a few times but I realized there was more to get from it cause I sort of sped read through some (dry) parts the first time. This was back in the mid 2000s when there was less relevant information for us in North America at the time. Nowadays it needs to be brought in for any decent curriculum, though I don't think the fascists would approve that.

Course in the US there's a lot less demanding of education for reasons like this book, you understand what can lead to our current situation and see how harmful it is. Heaven forbid the common folk understand propaganda like they show. Any truly great society would relish in their citizens being well educated and informed of such things to make better progress going forward.

  • I'm nearing 50 and found it seems I recall about the same of being a kid as I did 20 years ago, but don't recall 20 years ago as much as I'd think so now. Though yes long term seems better cemented in memory than day to day lately.

Mean if I forgot the kid stuff I wouldn't realize it cause no one around that would tell me either so...well I'm used to being wrong too.

  • Keep expectations low, he'll probably beat the pettiness within a few weeks. Just describing the current president of the US. If this was the 90s it'd be an SNL skit, in 2026 it's just just accurate.

  • Heck for a good contribution you get a pardon too. Can even not be white for the right amount. Only people he says one nice thing about are people who've fluffed him up. If you've said no once to him you're on his shit list.

Awesome leader there United States, hah he's a LINO anyways, leader in name only. It's really president Miller, the guy who got into politics cause he's too weak to strangle prostitutes.

  • That's part of the problem, the establishment never planned to handle the current situation. No one is cut out for this moment that's in a position of power, it's just not something people think can happen so quickly.

They're basically blitzkrieging the political norms to grasp power all guard rails are destroyed and the courts are just those low wide speed bumps.

  • They've already proven (okay stories but since it's been a few and they have no leeway to think they're better) that proper ID doesn't exempt you. Hell I bet even if their unknown app says you're good they'll still bring you in if they want to.

Fuck fascist governments and fuck ICE. They're a blight on humanity. Sure we can be that bad but everyone else is supposed to reign them in.

UN/NATO needs a fascism rule, countries that display enough fascist traits are treated as such, even if they have the biggest penis...I mean military.

  • They want to continue not working in the end. They're lazy fucking useless. They got lucky with their wealth that's the end of it maybe a few good investments or a good stock buy but they offer no real investment into our society. They just want to feed off everyone else's work and that's no way for society to thrive.

Fuck billionaires and their rich class. Imagine the society without them where we can live off our own futune? If I only, one day.

Today's society sucks ass, we all ensure the rich survive cause we we let then (okay some have been better for sure)

At some point we have to say no more. The rich are a leech on everyone.

Look at Minneapolis, Trump sent in goons, killed an innocent person blinded another. Is this really the society we want to live in? It's our society we have numbers let's fucking act like it at some point.

Can you really let some rich orange douche feel like he has control? The weakest and most thin skinned person alive? Just make fun of him and watch his reaction to being strong.

  • Cheap computer (I'm Canadian so let's say these are maple bucks) say $500, what's a rental $30 a month, so 16ish months before it's paid off.

I ran a media PC off a $300 computer for years (I can't recall exactly least 2 maybe 3). If you need more you probably don't need a cloud one, if you get a cloud one it's cheaper to buy a cheap computer every 2 years.

It may make a sense to some but I enjoy having my nas backup and separate media PC. Also if Amazon goes down you can't even access the calculator, least with no Internet there are options at home.

  • I think that works for everything gestures to marketing.

  • I saw a comment about the initial report 'administrations do this all the time for sensitive information... etc'. Except this is one administration who uses flimsy excuses for everything, so I figured I'd take note if this headline came, just for personal knowledge and all that it may be correct. I mostly assumed but they're so clumsy it'd come out. Within a couple days that's enough to flood their zone with more bs. I sort of wonder what exactly they don't care discussed, besides anything at all of their actions they have divine right of course in their minds.

  • Definitely one of my favourites somehow didn't read (well listen) till like 8 years ago, wish I made the effort much sooner but grew up mostly without an Internet or friends to tell me I should check it out...then decades happened. Took me a listen or two to really get it but it's one of those I pick up on some line I didn't ponder before that says more than first glance.

Rest of the trilogy is great too I'm hoping the 3rd in the peripheral series will be good.

  • At my age (sorry dunno yours) everything comes quickly but I agree this, and other tech stuff lately, come on fast these days.

Side note reminds me of neuromancer (book) where it's described as subcultures can come up and disappear quite fast. Oddly relevant to today even if we can't plug into the net. It's a single line in the book so don't think that's the focus if you haven't read it, but I do recommend. Though the prose can't be difficult sometimes cause sometimes almost written poetic.
