This is awful. Similar to the deportation of Jews in the 1940's in the Third Reich.
This is and was the current workaround. On my old phone I had to install an app for that because they decided that there is an up and down which didn't allow for a 180° rotation.
When held upside down the buttons on the side are misaligned to where the fingers and the thumb are placed. Thus, the volume up-and-down buttons are swapped, which is rather unintuitive.
Before a smartphone holder for my car was handed down to me (I never bothered to buy one for myself) I placed my phone inside the cup holder located at where the shifter is. When the phone needed to be charged, it was not possible to have the phone oriented in the "normal" direction, as the phone would have stood on the charging cable resulting in damaging of the cable. For that reason I made use of the app that allowed me to rotate the phone, so that the charging port would have been on the upper side.
Yeah, Big Pants is into this. What if instead of phone cases manufacturers sell pants to carry the phone around. Imagine...... the iPants. Specially made for carrying the latest iPhone with you. For just 2999,-. You can't wash it tho, and it will not be compatible with the upcoming model.
It's not even flagship phones. Even the cheaper ones are huge. When I had to replace my LG phone (6") I went to an electronics store to see what's on the market right now. Of all phones availiable there only were two android phones (I don't know which brand) that were sized similarly to my LG phone. Both of them were in the 800-€-price-range.
Similar with iPhones. Almost all models exceeded the 6" screen size, except for one or two models which were in the 1000-€-price-range. They also had an iPhone SE there, that had the desired size. I bought this as a refurbished one online for a fraction of the original price.
It's harder and harder to find a phone that has a size that either fits in your hand or that can be carried inside your pants without restricting your ability to sit down while the phone is inside the pocket.
Der Einsatz von Drohnen zur Verkehrsüberwachung könnte sich als effiziente Ergänzung zu bestehenden Methoden etablieren. Allerdings sind Datenschutz, Messgenauigkeit und offene Kommunikation der Maßnahmen entscheidende Faktoren für die rechtliche Akzeptanz und Praxistauglichkeit.
Also dem Fazit kann ich nur bedingt zustimmen. Jedes Auto hat ein Kennzeichen, über das indirekt auf den Halter und in der Folge auch auch den Fahrer geschlossen werden kann. Insofern ist das Argument "Datenschutz" schonmal nicht valide, denn ein normaler Bürger kommt ja überhaupt nicht an die Daten heran.
Das Einzige, was gegen eine solche Drohnennutzung spricht, wäre die korrekte Ermittlung der gefahrenen Geschwindigkeit. Diese wäre aber bei der Feststellung, ob jemand über eine rote Ampel gefahren sein könnte, unerheblich - bei einem Rotlichtverstoß ist die Geschwindigkeit, mit der er begangen worden ist, egal.
Wofür eine Verkehrsüberwachung mit einer Drohne sich ebenfalls sehr gut eignen würde, wäre die Kontrolle, ob bei Spurwechseln oder an Einmündungen und Kreuzungen geblinkt worden ist. Das ist nämlich so ein Punkt, der in der Praxis nicht gut umgesetzt wird. Irgendwie scheint das Blinken mit Schwäche asoziiert zu werden, weshalb viele bei einem Spurwechsel nicht blinken, oder erst blinken, wenn sie schon halb auf der anderen Spur sind.
Ich finde, dass im Allgemeninen zu wenig Präsenz gezeigt wird von der Polizei, was die Sicherheit im Straßenverkehr anbelangt. Alleinig die Ermittlung der Geschwindigkeit als Messgröße für Verkehrssicherheit anzunehmen, ist zu wenig. Aber wahrscheinlich ist diese Methode einfacher: Ein Blitzer braucht nur vormittags irgendwo aufgestellt werden, und kann dann nachmittags, wenn er sich herumgesprochen hat, wieder abgebaut werden. Bei der Kontrolle, ob denn die anderen Regeln eingehalten werden, müsste die Polizei tatsächlich die ganze Zeit vor Ort sein (diese Polizisten fehlen dann, um Kiffer zu drangsalieren).
Es ist aber schon merkwürdig: Der Datenschutz verhindert, dass Autoverkehr kontrolliert werden können, weil das Kennzeichen eines nicht beteiligten Fahrzeuges ebenfalls erhoben würde, aber auf der anderen Seite können die Hersteller der Autos sämtliche Daten, die gesammelt werden, und nicht einmal für die Teilnahme am Straßenverkehr relevant sind, abgreifen. Da kann man dann nichts machen.

When placing the phone on a surface, the camera lens cover will get scratches over time. If the phone was just one milimeter thicker, the cameras on the back wouldn't stick out and one wouldn't need a phone case, that adds to thickness anyway. It also would be nice if phone manufacturors would still have smaller screen sizes (max. 6") in their portfolio, as it is inconvenient to carry a larger phone in a pocket.

Apples eco system does have pretty good safety features. As far as I have heard, Apple is indeed not up to sell user data outside their eco system. However, they collect data from their users and use it for their own purposes. It is always a good advice to go through each setting (of phone as well as laptop) and evaluate if it is needed for functionality (e.g. location services or access for the camera or contacts). Not only will this measurement reduce the amount of (usually) unneccessary data that is being transmitted otherwise, but it will also improve battery life as well.

Do you mean iCloud Mail? I assume it is as secure as all the other iCloud services themselves. Personally, I don't use iCloud (except for the "Find my" feature). But you can set up any third party Email service with the Apple's Mail app. I use Mailbox.org as email provider and have it set up with the Mail app on my iPhone. It works flawlessly. Third party email providers often come with additional costs (the lowest tier with Mailbox.org was 12 € each year when I switched from a freemail provider a couple of years ago). I don't know if iCloud Mail is free of charge, other than additional storage space.
I think with a sufficient wall-thickness your box would be waterproof. If I were you I would test it first by printing a small box like you described you would, and put a piece of paper with ink writing inside. Then submerge it into water for a few hours. After that, let it dry thoroughly and saw it open to see if the paper inside has gotten wet or the ink writing has been smeared/diluted.

Die vage Chance, genug Geld zu gewinnen, um vielleicht aus dem Hamsterrad aussteigen zu können, veranlasst die Kandidaten zu Handlungen, die einfach nur unethisch sind. Teamgeist wird bestraft, Egoismus und Intrigen weden belohnt. Jeder ist bestechlich. Es kommt auf die Summe an. Was kommt als nächstes? Kandidaten, die um Geld für die Behandlung ihrer Krankheiten und Therapien spielen?
Mr. Beast scheint generell ein unsympathischer Typ zu sein. Ich kenne ihn eigentlich nur, weil Schokoriegel mit seinem Gesicht auch bei uns vernarktet werden, an Kinder als Zielgruppe. War das nicht auch der Typ, der Obdachlosen vor der Kamera Geld gegeben hat, und es ihnen nach dem Dreh wieder abgenommen hat?

HP printers are the avantgarde of enshittification when it comes to gadgets, although the earliest way I can think of selling a product similarly to a subscription is Gillette shavers. They basically sold a handle, and the first set of razor blades were free. After that one had to buy their proprietary and overpriced blades. HP managed to take this principle into the realm of peripheral devices.
Nowadays other gadgets have been "inspired" by HP in therms of enshittification. For instance, there are headphones that require an app to be set up properly, as the manufactorer can save implementing a physical button and can get tracking data form the user.
The sticker on the USB port is just another (physical) dark pattern.

Ich gebe das Trinkgeld in bar, weil ich mir dadurch erhoffe, dass das Trinkgeld dann auch bei der richtigen Person ankommt, da diese dann nicht offenbarten muss, ein Trinkgeld erhalten zu haben. Ich habe gehört, dass manchmal Trinkgelder abgegeben werden müssen und dann am Ende des Monats aufgeteilt werden.
Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass Trinkgeld, das über eine App oder bargeldlos gegeben wird, nicht bei denen ankommt, die es verdient haben, sondern entweder als Gewinn beim Zahlungsdienstleister oder beim Chef landet.

The "invite your boss for dinner to your home" thing that is often depicted in (US-based) sitcoms or cartoon series, where the protagonist introduces the family to the boss who is invited to have dinner at their home in anticipation to get a raise and/ or promotion. Is that a real thing over there? I never would think of invitng my boss into my home.
In Anbetracht dessen, was gerade so in der Welt los ist, ist diese Meldung irgendwie nicht schockierend. Verursacht bloß ein Achselzucken. Hätte man herausgefunden, dass Trump in Wirklichkeit zwei Leute übereinander mit einem Trenchcoat sind (das würde seine kleinen Hände erklären), dann würde das die gleiche Reaktion hervorrufen.
