  • Usually I recommend using cobalt.tools for downloading either the video or the audio file. Unfortunately, cobalt.tools isn't able to download from Youtube at the moment due to restrictions from Youtubes side.

I found a workaround, albeit it is a bit complicated, but suitable for an occasional download: I installed FreeTube. Each video offers download options. However, if you want a better quality than 360p, it offers to download video and audio separately. Look for the highest quality. Both video and audio file can be merged using VLC player after downloading.

After selecting the desired file(s) in FreeTube, you deternine where the files are to be saved, and then the download starts. There is no visual confirmation that the file is being downloaded. Eventually it appears on your computer. The download is slow, it takes almost the duration of the video that is to be downloaded.

After downloading both the video and the audio file, open them in VLC. Follow one of the guides when searching for video audio merge vlc. You can also save the merged file.

  • Not as a kid, but as a young adult entering the workforce:

    Never trade shifts with anyone.

When I heard this advice, I thought that this would be a dick move, because you are supposed to help out each other, since everyone appears to be in the same position (or metaphorically in the same boat). But some time later I witnessed what was meant: I had two coworkers that engaged in a shift-trade. One of the coworkers had an appointment and so he asked another coworker if they can switch shifts. The other one agreed to cover the shift, but he never got the favor back, as if that agreement never took place.

It turns out, that at work, everyone ist fighting for himself, and you should, too, catering to your own interests.

  • I went to school in Germany. Over the years we watched as a class

    • Mr. Bean (English lesson)
    • Schlaflos in Seattle / Sleepless in Seatte (as wished by the girls in class - English lesson)
    • Und täglich grüßt das Murmeltier / Groundhog Day (English lesson)
    • Das Phantom der Oper / The Phantom Of The Opera (Music lesson)
    • 1984 (Politics lesson)
    • Animal Farm (Politics lesson)
    • Es war einmal das Leben / Once Upon a Time... Life / Original title: Il était une fois... la vie (Biology lesson)
    • Apollo 13 (during the bus ride on a class trip)
    • A Christmas Carol (at the last day of school before winter/ Christmas holidays)

Sometimes, I think it was in 6th grade, we had lesson in a room that was permanently equipped with a TV and VCR (as opposed to these portable TV carts a teacher had to roll into the room). When we behaved well (and we did!), we were allowed to watch MTV for the last remaining 10 - 15 minutes before lesson was dismissed.

    • Nomen/Substantive = Rot
    • Verben = Grün
    • Dativ = Braun / Akkusativ = Blau / Genitiv = Gelb

  • This clearly shows that such implementation of AI is a solution that still seeks for the problem. Such summary doesn't add anything helpful. On top of this, since AI is known to hallucinate, one has to check the comments for themselves, making a summary obsolete.

  • Soon people will trade USB thumb drives with each other, until USB ports get banned for the sake of children.

  • This definetely will happen. Imagine you are attempting to run for the mayors office, a high position in a company, or anything similar, your opponent will gladly dig up some post where you stated something that became controversial over time.

It is a bit similar to have dug up drunk party pictures from college or university, only that in the future these takes will be judged in a more unpredictable manner: With party pictures that show you drunk, you can estimate yourself that this might not be a goog idea to have them spread over the internet, as they put you in a bad light.

But when you state that rich people should be taxed accordingly, because they benefit from the same infrastructure and law should apply to everyone equally or empolyees shouldn't be harassed by their employer because they want to organize in a union then these statements could be held against you in the future. Who knows, maybe pro-union-talking will be outlawed in the future.

That is, why the ability to maintain anonymity and privacy on the internet is extremely important, and we must not give that up. In the past, well before the internet, people died for the privilege to speak free.

  • With this attempt to normalize biometric identification, soon it will not only be about individually targeted ads as a method to try to sell stuff to people, but also to hold each user accountable for what is posted and commented anywhere. This is bad. An ad at least can be ignored or blocked. But if someone comments or posts or shares anything that goes against any political agenda, this might lead to trouble in real life. Users, who today do not seem to be very concerned about online privacy, probalby will not recognize the implications, until it ts too late.

I suspect that many internet users will provide biometric identification eventually, as I can assume that online services display a "false positive" - a popup that tells the user to perform an age verification, despite the desired content is neither nsfw nor otherwise unsuitable for children.

Those who try to maintain their online anonymity and privacy will be percieved as "sketchy" in the future, because ThEy MuSt HaVe SoMeThInG To HiDe.

  • Over the past year, TikTok has been cutting trust and safety staff worldwide, often substituting those workers completely with automated systems.

This is the whole reason AI is forced upon everything. AI promises to reduce cost, because workers dont't need to be paid, because they aren't needed anymore.

For the same reason McDonalds introduced AI-powered ordering at their drive-throughs, which have failed horribly, and thus, are depreciated for now.

Or car rental companies that use AI to detect damages after returning the vehicle (which also have a high failure rate).

  • Are they so bad at socialising that they can’t meet new people?

People tend to go the easiest route, and AI gives them the opportunity to do so. That is the problem with AI in general: No effort is needed anymore to archieve anything. You want to create a picture? Just type the prompt instead of learning (and failing) to draw. You want to write a song? Just type the prompt instead of rhyming the lyrics and learning (and be bad at it in the first time) an instrument or two.

Maintaining any social relationship means that you have to put in more or less effort, depending on the quality of the relationship. Having a relationship with an AI model means that you can terminate it and start over, if you feel that the AI model is mean to you (= if it provokes another opinion, or disagrees with you - because arguing and seeing things from a different point of view means putting in effort).

In the long term people will forget how to interact with people in order to maintain meaningful relationships, because they un-learned to put in the effort.

  • That's a Spotify Leak /s

This reminds me of the old Apple Macbook chargers where the cable was permanently attached to the charger itself. These cables became brittle and discolored from white to yelloy (they looked like they have been in a heavy smokers' household when exposed to UV light, which is always). When I tried to fix the brittle cables with tape, it got worse and probably due to a chemical reaction between the material of the cable and the sticky glue of the tape they completely disintegrated.

Your headphones are beyond repair. It looks like they have been exposed to some chemicals. Did you at one point in time clean them with perhaps an aggressive cleaner (toilet/ household cleaner)? It could be possible that some cleaner got inside the cable through a micro-crack in the cables' insulation and reacted with the copper inside.

You should replace them. The ooze is probably not healthy.
