  • This is always how graphql works :)

  • I have a small site that mirrors hacker news but with dark mode and stuff, and it is getting blasted by bot traffic. All the data is freely available from the official api but they're scraping my piddling site which runs on an anemic VPS because it looks like user generated content. Bot protection does little to help from my provider. Gonna have to rethink my whole architecture now. Very annoying

  • if I was talking about Elon I'd have you ready the guillotine instead of putting away torches

  • i mean its even excel sized depending on how many columns. This is seriously sad and alarming

  • For real... we are dealing with an edgy teenager here. Put away the torches people

  • The word in this context is "censured" 💗

  • transmission-cli path-to.torrent 😍

  • I haven't had cows milk in years. Somehow all my sauces and things are still turning out delicious! Lots of plant milk is flavored or sweetened. Buying regular/unsweetened almond or oat milk will work for most cases. I am extremely partial to oat milk and I would honestly drink a glass of it

  • Find a new one. Find one that specializes in ADHD. You can absolutely be diagnosed as an adult, however the symptoms must have been present before the age of 12 or something, technically.

I had a doctor ask me if I had found jesus when first trying to get help w my issues. For real. It can take some time to find the right fit, but hopefully you can seek out an ADHD/neurodivergent focused therapist for better results

e: i was diagnosed by a psychologist/therapist. I have heard from several folks anecdotally that their psychiatrists are more detached and are mostly just there for prescriptions. YMMV

  • I posted elsewhere about this, but ADHD can mess with your emotions. I thought for a while that I was bipolar because of how quickly my moods could change and how strongly I felt things like anxiety or disappointment or frustration. Now that I know what it is, in the moment I'm able to pull myself out of depressive spirals caused by hyperfixation etc. I'm also able to better work with the peaks and troughs of my productivity. Plenty of other helpful reasons too!

  • You can have shit software in any language ✨

  • DO NOT DO THIS TO YOURSELF

I mean the Wordpress founder alone should be enough. I work a lot w people migrating from Woocommerce and I have not been impressed. API routes that 500 randomly, horribly messy data, etc. That of course is my biased view based on a subset of Woo merchants. I invite anyone looking to migrate from Shopify to heavily weigh their options.

  • idk people have to agree in some smoky board room on the correct message and policy and run it by legal or something. i mean there are probably lots of ppl involved

“All merchants are responsible for following the rules of our platform. This merchant did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms so we removed them from Shopify,” the company told TechCrunch in a statement.

    mmm delicious bland corporate platitudes

  • because they told their front line support to say "no comment" on matters unrelated to Shopify stores? it seems like they took the store down, which really has little to do with the influx of support tickets and calls they likely got. I worked support for years -- this is amazingly unsurprising and I think the correct move, if they did indeed take down the store that is.

  • Halo 2 is famously the most difficult legendary campaign in the entire series 😅

  • I leveled with him today and said that I was really disappointed about our conversation and I wanted to talk about it more. I approached them from a place of wanting to understand their position but also make sure they had all the information. I presented everything calmly w wide ranging sources from PBS to the Cato Institute. It's just a straight up bad idea to deport these people. I showed him that the Heritage Foundation had no actual fact or statistics on their website to support their claims -- just that illegals are illegal -- he found that compelling.

He ended up saying he was not super informed and that there's so much propaganda and information overload that it feels like we can't even know what's real. Everyone's lying or has an agenda. I totally get it.

We both got a lot out of it. I think it's worth it to try engaging with people who are actually willing.

  • I talked to a friend about the deportations and he said he "doesn't care" because they "broke the law." I showed how it will hurt us economically, how these people aren't committing crimes, how it will hurt real human beings. He said he didn't care. I don't know how to deal with that. This action will only create pain for everyone, hell even the elites may be minutely inconvenienced by it.... why are we doing it?

Some people are legitimately so simple that "no paperwork == deportation" even if it means death and suffering. Even when they know that the "right way" to come here takes a decade and is too costly. It's like humans have forgotten how to feel empathy. If I sat these people at the border and had them talk to the desperate mothers and fathers and children, would they be moved? How do you reason with someone that legitimately thinks "I don't care if people die over paperwork"

It feels like we're gleefully goose stepping toward "just following orders" and it's horrific.

  • thanks! didn't know about that
