There isn’t long running strategic planning for this type of thing and no consistency in the volume of work, so the construction industry can’t invest in having the capacity. That and risk contingencies are way higher.

is a frontend foruses data from Openstreetmap, so the quality of the data will vary depending on if people have contributed in the area (please contribute if you spot anything missing), and there are other ways to access the same data.

Not quite as bad for the environment, and often just worse when it comes to all of the other reasons why cars are terrible.

I think it helps to get the message across and to be clear about what they are and aren’t promising to do. They aren’t, however, legally enforceable so parties aren’t obliged to actually follow up on their promises.
I use it over other tools, but I haven’t used the proprietary tools so I can’t provide a comparison.

So we can build things to a somewhat lower capacity sure. That helps, but what exactly does it solve?
Even if we assume everyone can work from home, people still need to go places for other reasons.
It’s Shanghai, Yan’an Road West. You can see the front of Jing’an Temple and the adjacent mall in the distance. There’s definitely some editing weirdness going on on the road in the foreground though.

New roads don’t reduce traffic, they create more. It’s called induced demand. We should be building viable alternatives to driving.

I live somewhere that is very much not car dependant, the cars still suck and we need way fewer of them.
