  • The way I see it. Religions are tools to be used. There is no such thing as a pure religion, the ruling class always co-opt religion to serve their purposes, and imperialist forces always co-opt religions to create conflicts. And when the working class become the ruling class, it will be no different, except that now it would be a tool to serve the common good.

Religious beliefs are to be inferior to laws, religious institutions are to be managed by socialist institutions. Beliefs, customs, and practices that no longer fit the new context are to be discouraged or even condemned. However, we must not rely on force to do so. The primary means are education and propaganda, consistent and persistent. The Chinese has a saying: 水滴石穿 (Water drips, stone wears away).

    Disclamers:

    1. I have only based my perspective on East Asian culture, which traditionally take it easy with religious stuffs. I do not know how different are the Islam societies.
    2. The socialist government must be trusted by the people (having full legitimacy) in order to implement something like this.

  • "Comparing Trump to this woman is like comparing diarrhea to constipation"

-- one Vietnamese comment I've seen on Facebook.

The Nobel Peace Prize has no credibility in the eyes of Vietnamese. It is but mental masturbation amongst the promoters of false democracies.

  • I don't find this news interesting one bit. There's nothing special to the guy other than having some right-wing followings. He's mediocre. And if he would die from some disease, it is what it is. People die everyday.

  • There are Western lovers even within nominal socialist countries such as China and Vietnam. Their existence in the rest of the Global South is no surprise.

  • Imperialism will lash out violently before it breathes its last. I only wish that the process of dedollarization would be completed before then.

  • I don't live in Japan, is it true that their history textbooks, education, and media keep the mentioning of the war crimes committed by Imperial Japan to a minimum? I hear it on Reddit, and I hear it from Vietnamese too.

  • Trots is more like Android. Compromised to serve the capitalists/proprietary.

  • And just like Linux, Marxism-Leninism marketshare is currently low.

  • Vietnam uses Ho Chi Minh thought btw.

  • I've seen some people claimed that they succeeded in overthrowing the government only because the polices and the armies weren't cooperative. It also appears that the military had taken control of Nepal. I've seen many Vietnamese netizens speculated that this is script to give legitimacy to a coup: First, let the protesters and rioters force the government to resign. Then armies move in to replace the protesters and rioters. The result is that the armies took control of the government without being seen as a coup.

  • Hmm, the establishment can try to take it down via the hosting providers that Lemmygrad uses. But this scenario usually only happens when the establishment feels extremely threatened. For example: They fear platforms like Lemmygrad would be use to plan a revolution. Then again, who know?! Maybe Trump would be clown enough to give Lemmygrad infamy.

  • I see that you're new here.

unless there’s a persecution by right-wingers and liberals

    This is an impossibility.

Lemmygrad is explicitly a Marxist-Leninist instance. Its culture is hostile to right-wing, liberal left-wing, idealistic left, fake left. Liberal voices aren't valued here.

The only way for it to be persecuted is to be defederated from other instances (e.g. Lemmy.World), but nobody cares. Defederation only blocks the flow of information between instances, it doesn't take the instance down.

Edit: Actually, another way is DDoS.

  • Why though? Did he know something he shouldn't?

  • "Being civilized with the people you disagree with" is what liberals expect from a civilized society and from the United States. But reality contradicts their expectation. A civilized society wouldn't have any gun violence to begin with. They could either double down on their beliefs and "moral principles" or be pragmatic and wake up to the ugly reality.

  • Vietnamese netizens on Facebook also discuss this. There's a screenshot of the decree which listed TikTok WeChat, Zalo (Zalo is Vietnamese made), and Mastodon amongst 26 sites. I can't read the text though, but it does look like it's written in Nepal script.

    Edit: Found it

  • Whilst I don't agree with the other guy's accusation of socdems, I can't deny that the geographic position plays a big role in determining whether a revolution will succeed. Vietnamese are proud of our achievement in defeating empires, but we also acknowledge the roles of our neighbors and comrades in logistics and assistants. We also look at North Korea and ask "Why couldn't they reunify the country like we did?". The common answer most of us think is that Korea, being a peninsula, has not supply line afforded to them like Laos and Cambodia afforded to us. Venezuela is in an even direr situation than North Korea, for there is no superpower allies in their close proximity.

  • About US's allies, I wouldn't be as optimistic as you. It seems to me that the West tolerates the far right (fascism) far more than they do actual socialism. So there's a chance that the West would devolves into a fascists hellhole in response to the decline.

  • The Empire is getting more and more unhinged. I don't think they would dare to declare war against the whole world, but I do worry for Latin America.
