I'm from the 90s Internet. Geocities. Tripod. Webrings. My awesome gothy co-worker staying late after work to update her vampire fan-fiction site because hardly anyone had a computer and the boss let her use the company's windows 95 machine.
We are categorically lazier as a culture now than then. I expect things to enshittify further until we collectively take responsibility and accountability for our own culture, engagement and entertainment online. As we used to. We need more stupid web tricks, this place used to have all sorts of public art and weird monuments to human quirkiness.
Until they take away from us the ability to purchase a 10$ domain, use DNS, and make HTML forbidden knowledge, anyone can be out there contributing. I realize, however, that most will not; I've recently started getting wide eyed stares of amazement because I have my own domain and use it for my email address, so we seem to be sliding further...
The American't boycotting will continue until they have their own little-engine-that-could revolution, kick the fascism to the curb, and adjust the perception of their own importance and contributions to the world.
It might even last a little longer than all that. The message must be understood.
I will personally never set foot in that cursed country again in my life.
So my lived experience here is battery charging is 100% fine in most of Canada's cities, which are, as we know, clustered near the border, as south as we can get. I've seen EVs in the Yukon too though, and no one seemed to be complaining about them to me there when I asked.
I also think you're not at all informed on the state of the art with regards to battery tech, there's tons of research going into it, and several very promising technologies on the horizon.
No offense but you remind me of the pundits confidently declaring that the future of physics is to be found in decimal places a scant few years before the discovery of X-Rays.
I definitely feel like crazy pills time. This reminds me SO much of the same oopsie regret posts that were going around during COVID. (See the Herman Cain awards subreddit back when Reddit was only slightly like a sewer). I know leopards have had a long and storied legacy of dining on the faces of these stupid fucks but it's really giving me deja vu, with a head shake vibe of 'holy fuck they really are both that dumb and that forgetful'.
It's just my personal preference, and where I think the value in therapy is best found. Maybe it's something as simple as the quality of the sound of someone's voice in a real face to face meeting. Either way, I totally understand the difficulty that COVID made for this to happen, while simultaneously creating the situation in society where many more people needed therapeutic counseling.
I don't mean to undervalue it for anyone else's utility, it might work perfectly well for some.
These are not men.
