  • I really struggled to read the ebook (stalled around Ch1). I got through it but had nothing to say on it. So I ordered a physical book. Then while waiting for it, I learned I could access it via audiobook. So a little while ago I put it on while I was fixing some lamps. A quiet activity requiring a minimum of brainpower, so can give enough focus to a book requiring it. I got through to Chapter 8, almost done.

Basically this book is making a point I already agree with. I do not feel my mind has been changed about anything. Perhaps reaffirmed.

    So I can't tell if I am

    • too stupid to understand the book
    • not noticing when I am learning
    • not the target audience

Sorry I know it sounds arrogant. But I am not accustomed to reading at all these days, and I don't know what I'm supposed to get from this.

So my comment is a little meta. I'm not criticizing the book or the choice.

  • it is a seriously amazing and easy to read book, I've been through it 2 or 3 times. if you find anything to refute it, please share.

  • I read a book once called Woman's Work: The First 20,000 years which makes that point. The author is an archeologist and a practitioner of various textile crafts. Particularly spinning thread. She points out various archeological finds which can be understood more clearly if you understand all the processes of making and using cloth.

It's a pretty poorly known book. I wasn't able to find anything suggesting the author is a crank or anything and at least up till a few years ago, she appears to be still an active academic. I looked her up on youtube and found she is involved in some groups that recreate historical fabrication processes and supply chains in order to properly understand artifacts.

It changed the way I look at a lot of things. Especially baby slings.

  • I saw that thread and I didn't understand any context. To me you are a stranger.

I came here under the pseudonym I am most commonly remembered by as a peace gesture to a community which I have disrespected

So you are known as a bad card which according to your account is deserved. But you want to have a fresh start. Why not just go by a new handle? Otherwise, of course you will have to endure continuity with your prior behavior. Whatever that was.

Just because you do something "as a peace gesture" doesn't mean anybody has any obligation to understand it as such or accept it. It's very entitled to make such a demand. Whatever prior drama all this is founded in, I am guessing more will be to come.

  • woaw this klint is so cool. i might try to get a print. which one? i like the atoms but not exclusively.

  • contrary to mainstream consensus, this makes sense due to testosterone causing people to run hot. miniskirt and fishnets is an inherently masc style frequently appropriated by women.

but if you are in a very northern winter climate, maybe underneath your fishnets, you have something like this to keep from frostbite.

  • what a heat score. maybe infiltrated by wreckers who are trying to draw attention.

won't somebody tell these nerds about front groups

arch linux now also for trans masc

  • agree

  • But you've never been to any protest? Ever?

The purpose of the protests is to teach people the inefficacy of protests, and to bind them together in a sense of unity against fascism to counteract isolation. Then, to have everyone who is sufficiently agitated and motivated to defend the working class physically in one location where they can self organize and/or be recruited to other activities.

  • Time to out a condom over maralago

  • I dont understand the meaning

  • Its really cool of the kids to take initiative here.

I don't understand what the most optimistic outcome of this is though? They have no apparent leverage that I can see. If this is a road to something else, than what?

  • For the govt it can't just be about finding out who the most bad Ls are because that info is already easily available to them. A vent session can be helpful, but only if the proper follow up is planned.

In my most optimistic imagination they will be forums to strike committees that each have a municipal staffer assigned to them to report back to the mayor. Something like a neighborhood police liaison committee or whatever its called. Probably there would be a bunch of DSA people already planning in each zone. These areas are pretty large so should be broken up into smaller committees according to target L or geography.

If I was living in one of these neighborhoods I'd be inclined to attend for the cruising alone.
