  • No. It wouldn't. Why are you people so willing to believe that these fascists are motivated by avoiding public scrutiny? Trump was convicted of 39 felonies. He's not so afraid of being tied to Epstein in the public eye that he would overstretch the US military.

There are other reasons for these actions.

  • She didn't. I am trying to figure out what it means if the US isn't gonna do regime change but still wants Venezuelan oil. They're not gonna do a covert operation to install a puppet. And they're not gonna invade to rebuild it.

So the only option left seems to be bomb the shit out of the place and then occupy it to secure the oil fields.

  • What a strange world you inhabit, where Russia ending war with a strike taking out a carrier group could somehow both end war before it starts and also somehow make Venezuela into a Russian victim by making them dependent.

Like, how does any of that mechanically work?

  • So is she saying that instead of regime change they'll do direct and permanent military occupation? Maybe settler colonialism?

  • This would be wild if he got the US involved in so many conflicts that the whole house of cards just collapses

  • Oh really?!?

  • The Nobel Peace prize is not one of the Nobel prizes. It's entirely separate

    Edit: I am wrong

The US wants Venezuela's oil fields to be privatized and the Maduro government has nationalized the oil fields to prevent them from being owned by US/mult-national corporations for profit.

As with any government that nationalizes their resources, the US will totally obliterate their country for the offense of daring to protect their interests against USA's interests. See Libya and Iran as but two examples.

Also note that, as has been publicly state, the CIA is doing a lot of the work here and has been "authorized" to operate in Venezuela. The CIA was created by the Dulles Brothers specifically to protect the interests of US businesses around the world.

  • Yeah, that's not what's happening

  • The reason Russia liberates no more than tens of km2 a day is because Russia has the advantage at multiple levels and therefore can afford to move more slowly, risk fewer casualties, gather better intelligence, and maintain a sufficiently responsive position in the case of surprise.

It is not to Russia's detriment that they move slow they are choosing it.

  • It could be that they were doing illegal things and that an adversary hit them with some electronic warfare. Can't go around admitting to doing illegal things, and certainly can't accuse anyone of electronic warfare if you can't tell who did it.

  • Time for some gusanos to meet some leopards

  • Help me source the Greek critique of electoralism. Was it Plato?

  • What we have is a methodology for measuring purchasing power, that is, the ability to buy things. This is superior to a methodology of measuring spreadsheet numbers (which is what money is in the modern world), where the numbers are measuring non-equivalent quantities.

Currency exchange rates are not objective, they are pegged specifically to international trade, not domestic. So if I have 1 dollar and you have 1 yuan, the exchange rate tells me how many dollars you can buy and how many yuan I can buy. What it doesn't tell me is what is the average grocery bill in China and what is the average grocery bill in the US. It doesn't tell me the average cost for a KwH in China versus the US.

What we want to know, economically is not who has more fiat currency in their cash flow. We want to know who is better able to feed their kids using their income.

This 500% increase would be perfectly understandable if we said "carrying capacity of Chinese households increased by 500%" because it's relatively clear we can measure that. The comparative nature of the problem is obvious - the basket of goods for household carrying capacity is potentially different based on country. But the fundamentals are the same: shelter, calories, hydration, fitness, medicine, clothing, education, etc. Chinese people are able to obtain 5x more of this basket than they used to be able to.

Meanwhile, I am sure you are familiar with how it's going in the US

  • Oh ambiguous use of pronouns - will it never stop being so funny

  • Nailed it

  • Going rouge...

    Edit for clarity:

  • He expected the US had a strong and effective military and that they would use it to fight Russia. Turns out the US military is only strong enough to lose to goat herders over 20 years and not strong enough to fight Russia
