  • Apparently it was another streamer playing WoW with half the stream as a campaign speech, but broadcast on Kamala’s Twitch channel. Still cool, but it wasn’t him playing.

  • RCV is just slightly better than FTP. Let’s go with the bests and support STAR now. If we do all RCV now, we can rage the system in the next 40 years due to people saying “but we just changed it!”

  • Since I voted in the last election, nothing.

  • All I did was put in my current zip code (different than 2020’s), phone, first, and last name, and it pulled up my full name and age and current city and political leaning (very blue).

Wild that they can just buy this data.

  • I’m curious so let’s explore this. Say someone in a rural area needs to drive 10 mins down the road a day and 10 mins back. Let’s say you employ one person for just 12 hours at federal minimum wage. That’s $609/week PLUS maintenance and gas on the bus. If someone owned their car/truck and paid maybe $2.50/gal with a 15mpg car, that would only be like $1.70 a day for them. (30mph20min/15mpg$2.5/gal*7(days)=$11.67). That community would only need 60 people taking the exact same path as the bus to make it worth it for them.

I’m all for public transit. I take it to work a few times a week and even when doing leisure, but it’s not a replacement for extra-suburb transit.

  • I dunno. I like drinking Coke Zero cocktails when I’m trying to lose weight. It works. ¯(ツ)

  • It only has 20 calories. I’m all for hating on Prime, but it’s not heavy in sugar at all. Definitely fake sugars. And heavy on caffeine.

  • I used to have my car commands (AC, location, seat heaters, etc) on a shortcut. It was stacked shortcuts calling APIs and passing tokens and storing these for later use to reuse the same token.

  • They have a bot symbol next to their name. But anyone can turn that on in their settings.

  • Last time I went I wasn’t even asked my insurance. Safeway just covered it.

  • I watch embedded videos all the time. Literally hundreds this weekend. Embedded is not “de facto blocked”.

  • I don’t love the rain, but I love that it doesn’t get super cold or super hot. We have been loving it up here for the last 2.5 years. We are enjoying Ballard with the breweries next to us.

  • Do you have a source for the “even when your device is supposedly off” part? I know iPhones have tracking enabled when off, but there’s no way they’re using Bluetooth to find these devices and reporting back. I can’t find a source for that at all.

But even then, it’s still pretty private because there’s no way to reverse track an AirTag. I don’t even think they can do that internally at Apple.

  • They didn’t do that for the past 3 years. They hired 15% more in 2023.

  • My team and managers have been awesome with respecting my time. It’s ironic that Jassy wants to “operate like a startup” but won’t trust his management to make the best decisions so we work quickly.

  • Fuck… I was doing coffee badging recently. 5 days is a lot to just drive to the office and back. I need to look for other dev jobs in Seattle that actually respect their employees, but the market is gonna be so cold after this announcement.

I have until January 2nd apparently.

At least they still haven’t said a minimum time in the office yet…

  • Soooo. I’m dumb. I host my overseerr on my domain that just routes to my local IP for my local desktop. How do I get email on this domain without spending dumb money on an email hosting server?

  • I remember when I was in college running a hackintosh. I was at the end of the hall and had awful Wi-Fi reception, so I just had my desktop emitting Wi-Fi for me and my dorm mate. I pirated some stuff but never seeded. I told my roommate about pirating and whatnot and showed him how to pirate Parks and Recreation. He didn’t turn off seeding. The university banned my MAC address, but luckily I could spoof one and have internet. He had to go to the dean and tell him he was sorry and that he won’t do it again to get my hardware MAC banned so I didn’t have to change it every time I booted up.

The fact that it was so simple for me to get around this ban was hilarious.

  • Exactly. I fuck with software and device issues all day at work. I don’t want my free time to always be fucking with my phone. I was jailbroken for so long back in the day but it’s just a hassle now when I just want to go home and relax.
