Elon Musk made $100,000,000,000 by making internet propaganda about how his electric cars are better than internal combustion, lies about their capabilities (full self driving), lies about how often they explode and lies about how well his Robots work. And then the propaganda is so strong he becomes Buddy in chief and people think that literally paying Musk another $50Billion is a good idea.

    The cats out of the bag. Internet propaganda is too cheap and too effective. Everyone will be doing it if only to counter Elon Musk (let alone make money for themselves like through bullshit crypto coins or whatever).

    You or I deciding to 'not fill the internet with shit' stops nobody. It's going to happen given this political climate and the benefits therein.

  • Lemmy.ml started off as marxist-lenninist site. All sites need to start with a niche and I doubt any future social network will avoid the niche issue.

    I think normies are turning off of Lemmy recently, which naturally causes the extremists feel more loud (because the extremists will NEVER leave this site).

    Trying to figure out a good social network is like looking for a good hangout in real life. The people who frequent is entirely the picture. It's hard to compete vs commercial interests like Blue sky or whatever as they pop up though.

    Still, Threads, BlueSky and Twitter are all obviously suspect sites that will seed algorithms with their message. Lemmy doesn't do that. Lemmy has its own issues but it's very much a pick your poison situation.

    Early internet was just information about hobbies and for the betterment of people and furthering knowledge. Let’s take that back.

    Nope. After 2010s proved that the internet is the central location for political battles with Wikipedia Blackouts causing major political shifts, Pandoras Box has been opened.

    The internet is now the premier location for propaganda and politicalization.

    Which is now closing down factories in the heartland of America.

    Lose lose for everyone. Who is the winner when the singular Truck was being made across Mexico, USA AND Canada?? Tariffs have now ruined the price of these parts and consolidation efforts, so now everyone is losing their jobs.

  • Overlord is late stage storytelling. The author is calling in hooks and writing the actual ending... Which is always a difficult task.

    Most stories / shows get dramatically less interesting as hooks and plot points diminish. But it's how you reach an ending. It's rare for endings to feel satisfying in any media especially if it's taken years or decades+ to build up.

    Frieren is still early. I'm not personally very impressed by its lore yet.

    Remember that Suzukiri / Yellow Jr. Rank1 instantly recognized Fighter D in Ep. 1. And she's of the "tech" squadron. Its clear that those in the Jr. Rank 1 slots are absurdly intelligent and competent (except for Red Jr. Rank1, lol). Then again, Suzukiri is fighting well above her weight class, something crazy is going on with her.....

    Occam's Razor is that Green Squadron recognized that Fighter D is actually reasonably competent at stealth / subterfuge and decided that Green Squadron was the best place for him.

  • I saw it in theaters. It feels... mean. I know we're well into the "evil" arc of Overlord so its well into "evil Overlord conquers the world" kinda thing.

    There is still a lot of good Overlord humor and laughs though. So the occasional "comic relief" to the rather heavy tragedies that Ains is now inflicting upon this country. But as the acts get "more evil", its harder to laugh at the comedy IMO.

    Ultimately, it feels like a sidequest. I can see why this was cut out of the season and into its own movie. It feels like an OVA. Yes, they finally "called in" that Jaldabaoth card that's been sitting around since S2. So its good to see how that particular story is finally completed and how Ains (or really Demiurge) decides to use that card. But its a new country not covered before and doesn't seem like anything they were building towards in the great scheme of things.
