  • Everyone's collective NATO/Russia/Ukraine psychosis has been actively harming my own mental state for years now. It's so fucking all-encompassing it makes you feel completely hopeless

I do see the occasional poster for anti-imperialist communist protests so there are at least a few people who aren't fully in the tank for WWIII but they're such a fucking minority it's not even funny

  • It is the duty of every patriotic EU citizen to support their local dropshipping entrepreneurs

  • I bought a phone case on AliExpress earlier this year for about 5€. Out of curiosity I looked around and found a Finnish online store selling the EXACT same fucking item for 17€ + 4€ shipping

It's the shipping costs on EU stores that always do my fucking head in. "Oh, this thing's 10€, that's not too bad, then you see fucking 8€ or whatever tacked on at checkout. I was so fucking ecstatic when I discovered AliExpress and now it's going away. Just fuck these people so hard

  • The 8TB one turned out to be one of those SAS drives, so it's a no go for me. However, those same brand new 4TB drives that are about 130-160 euros here go for about 80-85 euros on Ebay 🤔

    Gonna dig deeper

  • Damn, I could get an 8tb helium gas drive delivered to my door for less than 80 euros

  • Currently I'm just looking for an external backup for the shit I want to keep since I currently have nothing backed up. I have multiple drives on my PC and some of the most critical files I've duplicated on a few of them in case one of them croaks but I'd like the peace of mind of having all of my accumulated files backed up properly. Yes, I know you should have like 3 backups but just 1 would be an improvement for me currently

  • 70 dollars for a (refurbished) 4 tb hard drive?!? Get the fuck out of here

The cheapest internal 4 tb drive I can find locally is 129 euros, which equals about 150 dollars so it's literally twice as expensive. Fuck, I'd buy two if they were that cheap over here

Edit: I did check out my local craiglist equivalent and indeed, I can find all kinds of hard drives there, internal and external, for much, much cheaper. I've bought used components from there before but as a massive pessimist I've always assumed a used hard drive or SSD would just immediately blow up on me 2 minutes after buying it and moving my shit onto it

  • I've been saying this before but I've always hoped they'd bring Lara back to her roots as just some glory-seeking, kinda amoral treasure hunter who mostly goes on adventures for the sport of it, just lean into fun pulp

For some reason they always try to make her into a blandly noble and heroic character who wants to make her dead father proud or whatever

  • I thought the movement had a lot of evangelical soccer mom types in it, so a bit younger, so a lot of people in their 20s-40s too

  • ...as long as they keep putting in footballers or whatever other shit the Saudis are into

  • I heard the reason Konami came back to making Real Games was some kind of legislation that targeted paremovedo games

  • America totally could've bailed out those Catholic supremacist compradors in South Vietnam if only the boomers had been less against having their legs blown off half way across the world for no reason

Like, even if you were for the war in Vietnam, why the fuck would you blame the boomers for losing it

A liberal in 10 years: "If only those conscripted Ukrainian teenagers had shown a bit more backbone they wouldn't have gotten owned by Putler so badly!!!"

  • Being unflinchingly pro-military and supporting every stupid American war while being vaguely pro (American) working class is probably just the default setting for older Democrat types

  • I'm not saying the vigilante missions are intended to be unironic copaganda. They just end up feeling kind of iffy looking back on them almost 20 years later, probably mostly unintentionally- it doesn't seem like Rockstar put too much thought into them.

GTA Online had the bounty hunter expansion which is essentially the same concept but done in a way where it makes a bit more sense in the context of a GTA game

  • To be fair, the game does have a corrupt cop subplot and the vigilante missions are about as detached from the game's narrative as the 50 stunt jumps or the 200 hidden pigeons you have to shoot. They make no sense within the game's fiction

  • Isn't that scene supposed to be an intentionally over the top satirical parody or whatever of the kind of torture porn popularised in pop culture after 9/11 by media like 24?

  • Did it also have vigilante missions? I don't think I've ever played far enough to find out

  • I remember watching clips from They Live on Youtube and the comments were all "wow it's literally the Jews"

  • Not sure if white Christians really need Israel's help to be anti-semitic

  • Linux and open source software provide an alternative to spyware and software as a service, but you will still need hardware
