  • I'm all for this but we should start with all of the cameras owned by businesses and the government. If anyone at all should be allowed to record in public it is we the people.

  • Europe hasn't been an ally of the US in a generation, nor the other way around.

  • I live in a place with no alternatives to cars for transportation, and I make less than I did 20 years ago - and that's before adjusting for inflation. I want Chinese car standards. I want a car for under $10k.

  • The people selling off our futures are making a lot more than $2 tho

  • Yeah we need a reset. Food and shelter are way too difficult to maintain for way too many.

  • We're getting to the point where cost of living pay increases need to be 8% annually, not 2 or 3%.

  • Well I'm someone else in Ohio and I want that shirt.

  • Honestly we're probably way too late to stop that from happening. That's been part of Elon's plans for a long time. Battery power, robot tech, space technology. And Elon isn't the only player eyeing what's out there.

  • I keep reading about how they don't have enough helium supply. Is everything fake news?

  • The same regulatory burden falls on small mom and pop locations and makes doing business impossible for anything but billion dollar corps who are only profit-motivated which drives down wages and leads to the current cost of living crisis that most of the west is experiencing.

If you fall down the stairs, that should essentially never be a lawsuit in my opinion unless there was extreme negligence on the part of the property owner. If you burn yourself it should be your fault. All of this unnecessary regulation and liability is what makes everything so unaffordable.

  • I'd say it's more because of bullshit lawsuits. 90,% of the warning labels we have should not be necessary. We used to just accept that if you did stupid shit you might lose a couple fingers or die. Now it runs businesses into the ground and we have created a massive leech of an industry that is insurance. Insurance and lawyers are to blame for all of this.

  • I think the pushback is more from some small group of voices telling everyone what words they must use or are not allowed to use. People will always resist compelled speech even when the specifics aren't actually important to them.

  • Lemmy has lost that funny spark and energy, but it's because of the weird niche user base. Other platforms don't all have this problem.

  • I agree. The word retarded was adopted because it was technically correct and less offensive than others words that had been used previously. It didn't feel offensive in the 70s.

  • I would like free buses. But we don't have any buses so I guess they would have to be paid for first.

  • The Bible says that the time of Jesus' return will be like the time of Noah when everything was shit. But instead of flooding it, the next time will be destruction by fire. The rainbow was just a promise not to flood it all again. But it gets better after that! That's my paraphrase version.

  • I came to the comments hoping that someone had acknowledged that lack of water has consistently led to war.

  • He's going to burn everything until all they have left is nukes. And then the nukes.

  • That tree eats a lot of birds and mice. It looks exactly like my tree, which is also a predator.
