  • I’ve always heard it used to describe the lazy person, but I guess there are multiple definitions. I used it referring to this definition: A hobosexual is someone who dates for housing, not love

I think people having a discussion and agreeing that one person stays home while the other works is completely fine. That’s not what my situation was, he worked, then he didn’t, then he refused to.

  • Sorry, no, that’s not what it means. It’s a word that refers to someone who mooches off of their partner because they don't want to work. That guy was just an ass.

  • Lazy ass hobosexeual played the part of a caring partner for 2 years. He was in someone else’s bed whenever I wasn’t home at night, I worked the night shift so that was pretty much every night. I was constantly exhausted after working 12-14 hour shifts all the time, so I asked him to get a job or do anything to bring money in. He didn’t want to so he found some lady who made more than me to take his lazy ass in. I (sadly) begged him to stay and kept in touch.

One day, he came over to help me fix my brakes and tried to kiss me. I turned my check because fuck that noise. He had the BIGGEST crocodile tears I’ve ever seen in someone over the age of 5. Told me that he still loved me, just wanted to feel like I wanted him there (me begging wasn’t enough I guess), said he didn’t love her, she had “gross fake tits”, said he only cared about her money and her boat he was living on, said he had to sleep in his car when HE left because he had nowhere to go, blah blah blah. I told him to leave and then I found her on Facebook. I told her everything he had just told me. That dumbass still went on to marry his lazy ass and he still doesn’t work.

That’s ok though, my current partner of 10+ years is a massive improvement. He’s not an alcoholic and he has a job, so I won that one 😁

    Also. Fuck you Levi.

  • That will be stuck in my head all day now. THANKS!

  • I mostly use Apple Music because I have it and it’s easy access to a huge catalog of artists. I started using a little cheap MP3 player in my car that’s loaded with old Punk o Rama compilation albums, some ripped from my own collection, but many were downloaded because they are hard to find now.

I found a bunch of good bands at my library, so I checked the cds out and ripped them to my PC. I also frequent thrift stores for cheap books and cds. I’m slowly learning how to set up my own home network and I’d like to stream my own stuff on the go, but I have a lot to learn before that.

My favorite band is Green Day. I fell in love with them when I was 10 and heard them on the radio in the early 90s. They were my introduction to punk music and were my lifeline during some really rough parts of my life. I survived because of the 1039 smooth album and Star Wars Pod Racer on N64.

  • 100% agree. I’m not a fan of Earl Grey at all but Lady Grey is delicious. It has a gentle lemon and orange flavor that evens out the bergamot imo

  • I took a meandering path to get here, but that’s the same reason for me.

Reddit app wouldn’t let me block those dumb He Gets Us ads. Even after blocking the account, I still saw them. I swapped to Apollo to avoid it, then Reddit dropped Apollo, so I dropped Reddit.

  • Omg thank you so much for providing that first link. I’ve wanted to try Linux and to run a home server, but I am like OP. I’m not as tech illiterate as most, but I also don’t know nearly as much as others here. I know just enough to not fuck up my pc, but I had trouble finding a start from the basics instructions.

The Linux skill challenge looks like exactly what I wanted,

  • Dkp for the loot system and I have always liked punk music

My avatar is my orc rogue standing over Orgrimmar at sunset. It was when I first got my Thunderfury, so I wanted a cool picture with the badass sword.

  • You know, I’ve been thinking about going to my local UU church for the last few weeks because I’ve been wanting to find community. I think you just gave me the kick in the butt I need to actually go. Thank you for that.

I grew up in a UU church and it was great, probably one of the healthiest religions to raise a kid in IMO. My old congregation’s general demographic was older, but was religiously diverse like yours.

  • As someone whose father didn’t give a shit about his daughter, please tell your brother he is a kick ass dude and give him a hug from this internet stranger.

  • Titan A.E. Is one of my favorite movies. I even bought it on DVD when the last Blockbuster in my area was closing. Love that movie.

  • My experience has been the same and I’ve been on the internet since the mid-90s. I have always avoided voice chats unless with friends or trusted guildies and avoid things that will identify me as a woman because people can get so toxic. This happens in real life too, especially in gaming spaces. I’ve been laughed at when I said I taught my male partner how to play MTG until he confirmed it. I used to hear I’m “not a real woman” because I’ve been playing video games since I was a kid, it’s a lot better now, but it’s still there.

The womensstuff space is a huge breath of fresh air and I love having a space to speak about topics with fellow women. Quite a number of men have commented there and are very polite when they are corrected.

  • Field hockey

I already know the rules since I played as a kid. There is no physical contact, so it’s safer than some other sports, unless you get hit with the ball or a stick to the shins.

  • I collect earrings as souvenirs when I travel. I try to get something from a local small artist or at craft fairs, something that reminds me of the place. They are practical and good conversation starters too.

My favorite pair is from Alaska. They aren’t too long, but they are a piece of mother of pearl and Alaskan jade that dangle from a post. I bought them at a native education center from a lady who had a booth and was making earrings while she sat there. It was a really fun trip.

  • This isn’t the first time I’ve heard a similar story from a small business owner and I stopped using Yelp for the most part. I overheard a conversation that Yelp was really pushing the owner to subscribe for the same reasons. They got pretty aggressive about it. The owner said no and Yelp started boosting negative reviews to coerce the owner into subscribing. I checked Yelp vs Google reviews and there was a stark difference. Yelp was primarily negative reviews and Google was primarily positive reviews.

If they can hide negative reviews, they can also hide positive reviews.

  • Father to a Son by Green Day

I had a very poor relationship with my father and that song just makes me sad and very angry.

  • Halo Reach duos was my peak Halo time. I enjoyed playing it with a friend of mine, we used to play duos for hours. Seeing it on PlayStation feels kind of weird, but if they do cross platform play, I won’t complain.

That said, I haven’t played in a few years and I don’t really see myself picking it back up.

  • I’m sorry you lost your first bun. Sounds like you really loved and cared for him well. REWs are so misunderstood and I’m happy yours is getting used to you, some buns just take a while to get comfortable around humans. They are such sweet little creatures, although my young boy is going through his terrible twos right now 😩🙃

I love all pets, but there is something truly special about earning the love and trust of a prey animal whose every instinct is to run and hide. They really are something special.
