  • I get what you're going for, but the amount of energy stored in any mass going at orbital speed far outweighs the energy stored in its chemical makeup. A 1kg mass traveling 7.8km/s (LEO speed) has 30MJ of kinetic energy. By comparison, 1kg of TNT has 4.184MJ of chemical energy. So even if the Cybertruck was made out of TNT, the TNT would only account for about 13% of the total energy. Removing the batteries would significantly reduce the mass which would have a large impact on the "fireball," but I don't think that's what you're going for.

  • I’m a year into a 5 year purchase with name cheap. Their certs last a year by default.

  • I guess my certs expired. Here's the comic:

Edit: Updated my certs. Really thought they'd send me a reminder or something...

  • For the rest, start with their commit message

Heh, that's another can of worms. The project is in a "get a bunch of stuff quickly" mode at the moment, and he's taken to treating main like his personal codebase. Pushing to main, no comments. Even our Linear tasks he just marks as "complete" with no comments or context.

But yeah, I think the rest of your advice would work well if he was a bit more of a team player.

  • Haven't read the article, but can anyone with more software experience let me know how you're supposed to collaborate with someone who uses AI to code? I'm working with a vibe coder for the first time. As far as I can tell, his code is all great, but the dude checks in like 3,000 lines at a time. How am I supposed to have any understanding of a codebase that grows and changes that quickly?

  • Koreans don't fuck around with these pies. They're frequently smuggled into NK.

  • Sorry. Wasn't precise. I believe the term was something along the lines of "ready to shave," as in you could pull it out of the package and start shaving. Apparently that used to be the case, but one manufacturer started slacking so everyone else followed suit.

  • Very specific, but pre-sharpened straight razors (think Sweeny Todd) are not that. They're still pretty sharp, but not sharp enough to shave with.

  • I had to boot my Windows 10 partition up yesterday. It made me click through fucking six ads for Microsoft 365 and win11 and then said "you're done!" with a little cartoon of an athlete with a trophy as if just booting the OS was a challenge that I overcame.

  • Did... the Cybertruck outlast the F-150?

In all seriousness, good to hear that they're still taking EVs seriously, and if those massive batteries can be put to better use than sitting idle in a grocery hauler, so much the better.

  • So many good products have been destroyed by the people making them. Especially from Meta. The Facebook Portal was a fantastic product and my family used them heavily during the pandemic despite knowing that they came from Meta. Not only are they invasive, but Meta started removing features from them when they cancelled them. My aunt called me because Zoom no longer works. I had to explain to her that Meta just removed that functionality.

Having a wearable camera with notifications would be pretty cool I guess. I just don't want them to need a Meta account.

  • I had a month trial of Paramount+ that shut off literally mid-movie. Like 20 minutes from the end, it just stopped streaming.

  • Go to Goodwill and shop some DVDs. I've discovered so many films that are either not available on streaming or are available but have never been recommended to me. Just watched The Game with Michael Douglas recently which I had never heard of and was pretty good. For $3/pop, it's not a huge risk.

  • GimPhotoshop.

  • There are so many layers to this meme. Like just the vibe would be so difficult to explain to someone who doesn't get it.
