Your bait of falsehood takes this carp of truth; And thus do we of wisdom and of reach, With windlasses and with assays of bias, By indirections find directions out.

  • I got the most wonderful orchid for my mother for Christmas. It's a cymbidium of some kind and it's just great. not only does it have 2 spikes that are fully in bloom, but there are 2 more flower spikes growing away healthily, probably a couple months away from forming blooms. the bulb things (keiki?) that the spikes come out of are super fat and happy, full of energy. I dug around at the store for a while and this was by far the best specimen they had.

Everyone else in my life that I can show just goes 'oh that's nice' without really appreciating it so I'm posting here to gush.

  • Thank you for the response comrade.

Contrast this with a grinding attritional conflict like WW2, where there wasn't any post-war Nazi insurgency because basically every able-bodied male, and a whole bunch of non-able-bodied ones, was either dead, in a hospital, or in a prisoner camp.

I bet this will be relevant to Ukraine since they are fighting it out instead of coming to some kind of Russia favoured peace.

  • I love modular platforms

    thanks for the followup comrade

  • oh for sure, I love mushrooms. I make a lot of garden beds with woodchips and so spread wild mushrooms as much as I can throughout. Winecaps are getting pretty naturalized in the yard, and I've seen morels and shaggy manes here the odd time too, plus who knows how many random inedibles. Growing edibles like this is the next step. I'm going to keep an eye out for a big pot & basket so I can really go hard on oysters outside this spring.

  • You generally can't just start leaving missile systems at someone's doorstep like a cat with dead mice.

    Incredible sentence

Military alliance/serious materiel support seems on contingent on a foundation of joint training and interoperability. The US has gotten a lot of mileage out of all their training programs for locals in the areas they want to interfere with, like school of the americas. Does China do officer or elite soldier training, or much in the way of joint ops?

  • I've been making progress on this and have found/purchased/ordered a bunch of supplies. As an aside, google search is brutal for doing research these days. So much AI slop and store spam. Thank God for the shroomery.

Anyway, after digging around a bunch, I'm going to set up a little grow tent in our place with humidity control/fresh air exchange fan with a filter, then grow lions manes. I found a tek of someone growing lions mane in mason jars filled with sterilized bulk substrate inoculated with liquid culture. That person incubated the jars right side up, then when they were fully colonized, took off the lids and put them in the grow tent. I've got maple pellets and bran for substrate and a liquid culture syringe coming. I plan to multiply the liquid culture in malt first then inoculate a dozen or more sterilized, quart mason jars with bulk substrate from there.

From the tek I read, jars with bulk substrate and LC will colonize slower than doing LEC-grain spawn-bulk substrate but I have loads of mason jars and I don't like the idea of having to buy and throw away so many bags. Plus I can do all the high risk contamination steps inside a glove box this way.

Over the winter I intend to get all this stuff set up and figured out, with the goal of knowing enough to feel comfortable getting oysters going outdoors after that in buckets. Oysters frankly seem easier but it'll be too cold for them outside for at least a few months and I don't have a lot of floor space.

    Thanks for the encouragement comrade

  • oh my bad, thanks for the heads up

  • What is the electoral history of Kerala prior to this? Have communists consistently been in control or have they lost elections before?

  • consider me owned

  • If there is something or someone particular you are concerned about please do the work to run it down and bring receipts to the mod team. Any receipts should demonstrate malice beyond just predicting wrong in the internet. This kind of vague posting and fedjacketing people is corrosive to the community.

  • They have the ability to hit targets inside the United States, unlike Iraq.

extremely doubtful. at best they might get lucky and hit US military assets sitting off the coast

  • Curious name for the ukrainka airbase in the far east of Russia, it must be the borderlands root

  • They're good. Derek has an encyclopediac knowledge of issues all over the globe. Their guests are a mixed bag, sometimes it's academics, others new media, and the odd openly liberal debate nerd. I thought their crusades series was fun too.
