  • I canceled my PayPal account a while ago. Guess newegg is next on the chopping block

  • They want to preserve the sanctity of intimate relations between boy scouts and their scoutmasters.

  • Every new internet-connected feature they add seems to also increase attack surface, so this is a weird dilemma. Still better to keep things up to date in the short term. In the long term, I've made the choice to switch to an OS that respects user preferences.

Edit: I've also heard that the Windows 11 IoT enterprise edition doesnt come with all this bloat but still gets regular security updates

  • Because projects funded by Jack Dorsey have a track record of going to shit

  • It'd be a missed opportunity not to call it 'skinsulin'

  • I was considering doing smth like this on my old phone, since PostmarketOS at least partially supports it

  • "Got it, I'll send you fewer unsolicited dick pics"

  • YouTube is also guilty of this behavior. Every month it's "got it, we'll show you fewer shorts". Zero. I want zero.

  • If it's for waking up at a scheduled time, why not go with a dedicated alarm clock that only needs a wall plug and maybe a backup battery?

  • Time to say pasta la vista (sorry)

  • I'd argue that it's not the population at large, but the millionaire and billionaire class that needs to experience maximum discomfort. You might have noticed that private jets started getting turned away from busy airports just before the vote to end the shutdown happened. Making the wealthy uncomfortable does more change in the US than making life more difficult for people on the brink of poverty with no safety net.

  • Accountability. When the AI causes measurable harm to an individual or group, will the owner of the service be held accountable in the same way that an individual would be? I doubt it. The corporations will just pay settlements and keep doing everything in their power to avoid being held responsible for what their AI says or does. People are too trusting of corporations and anthropomorphized software.

  • 1 hr old with that many similar sounding comments. It's definitely suspect

  • Change only happens fast when the upper class and middle class are inconvenienced enough.

  • If the AI was as good as they claim it is, they wouldn't need to pay influencers to promote it.

  • Those who commit crimes against humanity should also ID themselves to make it easier for justice to find them in the future
