  • All good. It's a pervasive myth that on the surface seems plausible. There are other examples of what you mentioned that probably were a false flag or manufactured consent. Extending a conspiracy like that to Pearl Harbor takes a lot of credit away from Yamamoto's strategic genius.

  • Because it's not an issue. The valves were closed after docking. There is plenty left to get home. And no hurry to leave. They're taking extra time because they can stay up to 45 days. Good idea to get more data off the service module that can't come back to Earth while possible.

  • Even the 1st wasn't that mysterious if you read more than headlines. John very likely did kill himself. He had already lost his civil suit against Boeing for damages. Was trying to appeal that case. It very likely wasn't going anywhere. Because if he had a case Boeing could have quietly settled before the initial trial.

The case also had nothing to do with current Boeing practices as John retired in 2017. John was suing for defamation.

  • That take on Pearl Harbor is not historically accurate though. US Naval command had Japanese radio transmissions as well. It was more hubris and incompetence than some secret desire for an excuse to join the war. The US was already preparing for war with Japan. And Japan was crazy enough to skip straight to attacking US Naval command in Hawaii head-on as an opening move. Whereas US command assumed they'd take smaller targets first and try to stretch the fleet across defending many locations.

Japan ironically was both more and less successful than intended because of US mistakes. US carrier groups were sent west out near Wake Island and the Marshall Islands to cut off the attack that was thought to be coming. But Japan sailed around Midway approaching Hawaii from the North. They even had their planes loop around to fly in from the East to cause extra confusion until it was too late. What they found was less resistance than expected because the carriers weren't there. It didn't end up being the kinda suicidal knock out blow Yamamoto was going for.

Congress demanded multiple investigations over the years after. They all bore out a similar conclusion that US command and intelligence fucked up. They went looking for the fight in the wrong place. Assuming the attack on Hawaii intelligence had to be a ruse.

  • And people should have known Iran was working on ways to help create a distraction for Russia. Hamas had been planning and building up for this attack for a while. They even intentionally chose October 7th which is Putin's birthday. But I get downvoted all the time as some crazy person for pointing out how easily it was to predict Iran's proxies were going to act up to help split US attention away from Ukraine.

  • Trump takes a dump in the White House. Biden doesn't manage to mop it all up.

You - How could Biden have missed this spot.

  • But wouldn't that be more like the absence of matter? A hole is a negative space. But it's not a negative mass.

  • The main thing here is that falsified paperwork means the source of the titanium is suspect. The raw titanium could have been sourced from a sanctioned nation. Or the subcontractor changed their titanium source and did not update their documentation.

Titanium was certainly supplied and used. The audit is questioning other aspects of where it came from.

  • It started while Trump was trying to act like the pandemic was a hoax. So I'm not that surprised. Article also says Biden shut it down in spring of 2021 which wasn't long after he was sworn in.

  • I blame a lot of that on stock manipulation hype.

  • Pandemic accelerated it a lot. Couple projects I was on were to move production lines out of China to Mexico, Malaysia, and India. The move to India was pre-pandemic to avoid Trump tariffs. The other two were during the pandemic to avoid Chinese lockdowns.

  • Russians took over the mod positions way back. That was enough to ensure the narrative is maintained.

  • Kissenger finally dying was close. Probably be similar for me when Cheney, Gingrich and McConnell go too.

  • My favorite are the couple openly trans people who consistently simp for regimes that would gladly disappear them.

  • Lots of people are incredibly stupid. Many of those stupid people are also selfish and mean. It will always be easy to appeal to those people by blaming all their problems on others. Until science figures out a way to force on the empathy parts of our brains, we'll go through these cycles of stupid people cheering on fascism.

  • I've got big hands. Phones are great the size they're at now.

  • Good to hear. The trailers have looked awful. Nearly as bad as some of the DC movies.

  • Except that only started on luxury brands. And the Japanese brands have struggled with it the most.

Hondas were still well known for rusting out too quickly into the early 2000s. They even had recalls on 2007-2011 CR-V.

Toyota in 2016 settled a class action suit for multiple models from 2004-2008. And that was on top of a different recall for rusting that spanned 1995-2003 models.

Nissans still tend to have the transmission blow up before the car can rust out. But did have their own rust issues.

Basically, Japan doesn't use road salt. And their engineers had much less experience dealing with it. But the issue has persisted way longer than it should have taken them to solve for.
