  • Holy shit he is such a breath of fresh air after Trudeau. I'm not a fan of all of his policies or even the LPC in general, but it is incredible having a leader willing to explore opportunities and take risks for the greater good of the nation, both present and future. He knows the winds are changing and he wants to make sure Canada is in a favourable position when the dust settles. Seeking new allies and trade deals is 100% the right move right now, and advertising Canada as a sane and stable alternative to the US is smart.

  • saying that European leaders “won’t push back too much.”

Defensive forces are already being deployed to Greenland as I type this and EU leaders have made it clear they will open fire on hostile US soldiers.

  • You might be right, but it's hard to tell with all the people lining up to whisper into his orange ears.

  • An alignment of multiple interests, I think.

Russia wants to see a weaker NATO, US, and EU. Trump's pedophile technofascist backers want Greenland as a completely unregulated, fresh space for their fascist agenda. Trump pleases all of his handlers by squeezing the EU for Greenland.

I doubt Trump himself cares even a little bit about Greenland. The fucker just wants to loaf around playing golf while eating burgers served on golden platters by people who fawn over him.

  • There isn't a snowball's chance in hell that the fascists would just hand over the presidency at the end of his term. They have near complete control over the executive and judicial branches of government with their own gestapo at their disposal. The only place Trump is going to go is 6 feet underground and, in that case, they'll just pick another obedient successor.

  • I don't think it's fair to show the entire world burning because of several issues that are very unique to the US. This is highly US-centric.

  • No country ever in the history of trade itself would ever give up land or risk war over a 10% tariff.

In fact, 10% is pretty pathetic even compared to Trump's other tariffs. I'm wondering if this is his way of pretending to care about Greenland while not actually doing anything majorly impactful.

  • He's basically admitting that his plans may be foiled if other countries don't support him.

And they won't. Tariffs are a much better alternative than risking world war 3. Also the US is already tariffing the shit out of most of the world's goods anyway.

  • This would be one of the stupidest things he's done if he did it. The fascist takeover of the US has been fairly peaceful (domestically) with most of the population being compliant. Invoking this and mobilising the military against US citizens would make things so much worse for the regime and possibly threaten civil war.

I'm guessing they're keeping this card close so they can pull it when the midterms are coming so they can suspend (more like cancel) them.

  • Artist here. We can have shit opinions and be dumb as bricks too.

  • I'd imagine because AI in China isn't a massive for-profit cult propped up by technofascists with speculative values greater than the combined GDP of entire countries who have basically seized political power and are now running amok.

China is many things but they are not stupid. Handling AI the way the west has would be an extreme threat to their own authority and control.

  • Not our problem. We're not the ones that elected a fascist government. Twice.

  • E-waste.

  • We can't trust our spineless leaders to do what is needed, so it's going to come down to us everyday people. Imagine a boycott of US alcohol but on a worldwide scale and for every US product, not just booze.

  • Goddamn Dell of all companies is the only one that seems to get it. I'm shocked.

Welcome to the world outside of your own ass, Dell. The air is fresher out here.

  • I'd imagine it's because the beef and diary industry in the US is huge and heavily subsidised. It'd be like the US saying every meal needs to include a generous amount of corn products.

  • 3D artist here. I am active on numerous art websites, including DeviantArt and Cara.

I joined Cara quite a bit later than everyone else so I can't give too much commentary on it yet, but I will say that it is very much not dead. It certainly has an active and growing community, but it is still a niche site so don't go in there expecting it to be the next Twitter in terms of userbase size.

DeviantArt, on the other hand, is quite a bit more unfortunate. It actually has a rather sizeable community still but the heartbreaking part is watching the owners systematically sabotage it. Nearly everything they've done in the past several years has been catered towards driving AI use/growth while letting every other part of the site fester and rot. I don't share my DA profile with clients or family members because if they click off my profile there is an extremely high chance they will be hit by a wall of untagged fetish porn and AI slop that will never be tagged despite the ToS requiring such.

Just a few months ago DA removed their official app from mobile app stores for some reason and it became very clear that that was how many users engaged with the platform. Myself and many other artists on DA noticed a very sudden and very large downturn in user engagement and views. They also made some back-end algorithm changes that made this even worse but they have never confirmed that and I doubt they ever will. Membership subs basically exist just to give you extra AI prompt credits and cloud storage space and maybe better selling rates assuming you actually sell anything. The other features, like boosts, have been broken for months now.

Platforms come and go over the years but DA should go down in history as the one that turned to their core userbase, the very people that built them and funded them for so many years - and punched them right in the goddamn face.

  • There is.

It's called commenting. You leave a comment talking about the issues you had with the post.
