  • Rather than hard-coding an upvote to comment ratio, changing the default sort to effectively put a ceiling on how raw upvotes per comment might be a better way of accomplishing the same goal. And lets it be optional.

    An upvote is essentially a boost/re-post on mastodon which says I like this content and think it should be shared. Comments or discussion aren’t always needed for content to be good

  • I agree with making accessible controllers with special layouts and allowing custom control bindings to accommodate those who are differently abled.

    Those can be accommodated without meaningfully altering the game. Changing the gameplay is different however. Not that adding more difficulty options is a bad thing, I don’t mean to disparage anyone by calling it fake accessibility, just that I don’t think it’s the same as other options because it fundamentally changes the experience compared to other options that I considered “real”

  • Is it not fair for the game developers’ artistic vision to not be accessible to all? Accessibility is nice, expands the potential audience, but if it compromises my artistic vision and I’m ok with giving up reach and money to preserve it, that doesn’t make my game bad or my vision invalid.

    It would be ridiculous to call up the bar or the ama and complain to them that becoming a lawyer or a doctor is not accessible to all.

    One last addition, adding control remapping, color options, and text to speech are true accessibility. Easy mode is fake accessibility

  • I can’t say I related to your specific situation but the world you describe doesn’t look like the world I live in at all.

    Definitely seek therapy and learn how to accept and love yourself. It reads like you have some self-loathing based off your upbringing that you are projecting onto others when it’s really not the reality

  • That’s good to know. My understanding is admittedly out of date as I haven’t really kept up with ATProto as I get much more activity from the AP side of the house. I have been excited about projects like Blacksky and such acting as alternative relays.

  • I think a lot of the hate is because of the realities of the real world implementation of the protocols. The fact that AT Proto is mostly run through the main instance with only nominal federation through other relays. And the fact that AT Proto requires the full firehouse replicated to all relays.

    I probably prefer most of AT Proto other than these two issues. Regardless I am on mastodon with it bridged over to bluesky

  • I think it’s a loss of talent and shuttering of shows across his company’s channels that are leading it. I can only watch so many “reporting verbatim the benchmark results of new tech product” or “I made my family a sleeper desk” or “dark horse home theater for my kid” videos. I’d much rather watch the highly produced “Mac Address” videos with Jonathan or retro gaming systems and setups videos with Anthony but they aren’t a part of LMG anymore.

    Riley is doing well on tech linked but he’s talented enough to get a real job and after that, what’s the last interesting thing that LMG has? WAN show clips?
