  • It’s the only place in the world where the Jewish people are guaranteed protection by a government.

They failed massively on this part on last September. Not only did they ignore several countries warning then but they actively moved soldiers from protecting the border to Gaza to the Westbank to help in their illegal settler campaign. And even after being engaged in massive battles in Gaza they KEEP fucking things up in the Westbank, ensuring that the people there will continue to hate Israel. And that's by no means a new development but they have been doing so for decades.

So yeah, they are doing a really shitty job at protecting their people.

  • Only one of those countries currently still is a dictatorship.

  • Well it's likely that such a fuckwad, does have his issues with Bi people as well.

  • You think schools don’t have councillors?

Oh some do, but it's certainly something which could use a lot more funds. That would definitely be much better at tackling bullying than school uniforms.

What do you think these “underlying issues” that contribute to inequality are?

I was talking about the "underlying issues" of bullies.

  • We're talking about a gaming streaming platform. How do you think that concept could ever work without a subscription?

And frankly, adds for the free users really isn't that outrageous or surprising either. I'm mostly surprised that this wasn't the case from the start.

  • But the inequality isn't addressed! Parent's now have to shell out additional money to buy school uniforms and you can bet that kids who spend their free time around other kids still want to have what ever shoe, pants or jersey is in right now. They sure as hell don't spend their free time in their school uniform! So this does absolutely nothing to address this issue.

And frankly, handling peer pressure is a topic that every parent should properly teach their kids. The solution to this for damn sure isn't to buy your kid what ever fashion trend is in right this week!

  • What else do you want them to do?

How about working with troubled kids to address the underlying issues?

  • Which shows that they really don't understand bullying and are looking for an easy way out. Bullies will now just pick another "excuse" to harass other kids. If you want to have less bullying you have to tackle why bullies do so in the first place. And that's personal problems of the bullies them self and not external factors.

  • Big tragedy is a pretty apt description of the whole fucking shit show in that conflict.

  • Well I think the reality is really complex and intertwined. Jewish people live in Israel because, historically speaking, they aren’t safe anywhere else.

I hear this claim a lot. But in the view of the recent killing of over a thousand Israeli's this really doesn't seem to be true. Israel also constantly claim to be surrounded by hostile nations which would eradicate all of them given the chance. From this perspective countries like the US, while far from being free of antisemitism seem more safe for Jews than Israel.

The only thing Israelis in Israel are safe from, is antisemitism from the sate. But as we've seen the state has catastrophically failed to ensure the safety of their citizens. And they continue to make the whole situation worse and are currently ensuring that at least for one or two generations the hatred between Israel and Palestine will continue.

  • Also, wtf is the basketball team of israel supposed to do if their political leaders go ham?

If they don't agree with the current politics of their country? At the very least be very outspoken about it or just don't play at all under their flag. If you play for a national team in an international competition between nations, then of course you do represent the country. And that representation of course also includes current actions which many find at least very concerning.

Or you can just label anyone who criticises Israel as anti-semitic. That's after all what the right wing extremists of Israel do constantly to shit blame away from their disgusting actions.

  • It's actually planned as food ingridient. But hey, what ever floats your boat.

  • Well it matters when it comes to replacing ageing programmers with very few options available. It's definitely not something taught in schools today, so one has to be very deliberately learn it.

Don't get me wrong, you can make a lot of money in such a position. But you also have to deal with COBOL.

  • Sure, but how likely is this in this specific scenario. We're talking about a system that's not even directly controlling the train but just a display on it. The worst that can happen is that those displays won't work until the system is reinstalled. That's hardly a lucrative target for modern hackers. There's way easier target which are worth something.

  • Well yes. You can code software remotely. That doesn't mean the end system is reachable through the network. Given it's DB, I bet these systems are still patched by floppy. Until very recently they've used floppy's to distribute train schedules to be displayed in the train.

  • Frankly that's nothing. In the worst case a train won't start, which for DB really isn't something unusual. It's far more disturbing how the whole global financial market sometimes rely on code that's still written in COBOL.

  • Hamas committed a direct attack on civilians, without any military target in mind what-so-ever.

About 1/4th of the Israelis deaths on October 7th were members of the military. The IDF by it's own reports has killed two civilians for every Hamas member, so 1/3rd of the deaths are military. They have killed at least 10k civilians in one month, so just a bit more than Russia did in the whole war but 10 times as much as Hamas managed! With those numbers let's keep in mind that Hamas are terrorists while the IDF is an organised army of a democratic state which claims to uphold human rights even in war times.

So yeah, neither side gets a medal from me for holding back against civilians.

  • I certainly won't trust Musk even as far as I can throw him with such stuff.

I suspect that he doesn't read dyspotic science fiction novels as cautionary tale but as an instruction booklet.
