  • ...you’re writing in properties for the mimic that aren’t in the rules...

The rules don't say goblins breathe, either. If you can't extrapolate that living creatures breathe, you're not doing a good job.

...to explain the mimic both breathing and being imperceptible

I'm quite clearly doing the opposite, though. As does the lore attached to it, which clearly says "a mimic in its altered form is nearly unrecognizable". Nearly unrecognizable means it is recognizable.

...some form of motionless skin breathing.

Okay, now you're the one writing in properties that aren't in the rules. Especially since its skin can be just wood.

...its your model that is wrong, not the rules.

No, neither are wrong. You just misunderstood the rules. And my model. The rules say they are indistinguishable when motionless. I say they aren't motionless. No contradiction.

  • Fun fact! This stat block predates the birth of the child in the post!

  • RedWyrm is especially notorious for that. Their child also doesn't age correctly.

  • ...Sorry, you're acting smug, but I'm not sure what you're even trying to say. Did you not read my comment? Mimics breathe. Breathing causes motion. Ergo, they aren't motionless. If you can spot the motion, you can distinguish them from a regular item. If not, you can't.

  • Other Nazis, I guess?

And I never said there was a Nazi in the group, I was just listing people who are definitely evil as proof there ARE evil people in general.

  • Cool. Mimics breathe. Roll perception to see if you spot the motion of the mimic breathing.

  • Honestly? Yes. There are evil people. Child abusers, Nazis, rapists, people who scam the needy... On a fundamental level, they don't care if others get hurt, and might actively enjoy their suffering. That's evil.

For these sickos, the only reason they don't do it more often is because something bad might happen to them personally (prison). And if they still do it anyway, then letting them go around without consequence is just enabling them to do it again.

I agree prisons don't do enough to rehabilitate inmates, are used to punish too many who don't deserve it, and often has way too much abuse. I disagree that the concept of prison is evil.

  • I'm honestly not THAT surprised. If there's a high turnaround and little of value they can take from direct access, then you'd want it more accessible than secure. And since the value in an art museum is physical, the camera footage isn't worth nearly as much. Plus, how tech-savvy are the owners of an art museum going to be?

Still, you'd expect a number, at the very least. Or something like MonaLisa14. Something you change every 6 months. Louvre is WAY too default.

  • That's honestly a great way of thinking about it. My character can open any lock, charm any NPC, withstand any attack and deal incredible amounts of damage, just by asking a buddy to do it for them. Friendship is OP.

  • "Heroes! I'm sorry, the next ale delivery is gonna have to wait. Our supply routes have been under attack by those same villains the blacksmith mentioned. This seems to be the work of the Dark Mother-In-Law."

  • How can you be sure there wasn't already a cover up?

  • I once told a player a roll was impossible, so she shouldn't bother. She gave me a look, picked up the dice, and rolled a crit (this was a 3d6 system, so that's a 1 in 216 chance). I don't care what the rules say. If I refused that dice witch her roll, my dice would forever roll naught but garbage.

  • Competition for losing heroines is REALLY stiff these days.

  • I wonder why they don't work there anymore...

  • Stamets is a serial reposter, and their posts get upvoted because they repost stuff that was already popular. I don't upvote because it's Stamets, but because it's a funny meme. Heck, the PTB moment I mentioned was when he ran a community about taking pictures yourself and filling it with reposts.

So trust me, this isn't me picking the side of the guy I like.

I made my judgement because you were absolutely vitriolic, spend the entire post insulting a dude instead of defending your actions, just had a post taken down (by an unrelated mod) within the past day, and immediately lept to your own defence by calling everyone else a Stamets alt. If this is your behaviour when defending yourself, I need no ulterior motive to think the ban was justified.

  • The fact you assume anyone who dislikes you must be defending someone else says a whole lot more than my first impressions of a mod log. And I agree that a lot of what you were banned for was power tripping, but you were also banned for stirring up shit for no reason. Which is what you're currently doing.

Stamets has, at least once, been a power tripping bastard, and is fully capable of being so again. Banning you was justified.

  • The fact you think this is a win for you made me genuinely laugh. First of all, it disproves your own comment that "Posting a link to someone’s modlog isn’t the gotcha you think it is." Second, all I could think when I saw their modlog was "wow, this is so much shorter than the other guy's."

  • A man tried and sentenced at Nuremberg, german surname, accessory to violence as a journalist, black and white photo, armbands in the background... You had all the clues you needed, dude.

  • No, she definitely hurt her ankle. I think that's why she sat down for the ending. And while saving her, he ALSO hurt his ankle, so he remained backstage.
