Ben Grimm from Earth-616 imo
I don’t care what people say, the most important historical event in my lifetime was the discovery and release of the lost Steely Dan tape containing The Second Arrangement
Ben Grimm from Earth-616 imo
No environmental collapse and global extinction
My alma mater had a café named Foo Bar in a computer science building
Thanks for the shoutout. For gluttony, Khan says in Space Seed that the planet will present “A struggle at first even to stay alive, to find food” and in Wrath of Khan he says the crew had “only the contents of these cargo bays to sustain us”; maybe something more fitting could be made out of those?
The Wrath Lust of Khan
Hmmm, that’s odd. Here’s the old Lemmy Dev’s GitHub and his (inactive?) Lemmy account is @nnrx@sh.itjust.works if you want to suggest changes. For now, there are websites that strikethrough text for you, though less perfectly.
Re: your edit
If you’re making an edit to correct an error in a comment, it may be best to just strikethrough the erroneous part of the text and clarify with an edit message. That way you probably won’t get downvoted as much once you’ve realized your mistake, and the clarification doesn’t get buried by downvotes either. You can strikethrough on Lemmy by putting two tildes ~~ before the text and then two tildes ~~ after the text, like this.

You’ve made 10 posts on Lemmy and 6 of them are shitting on Biden by name. 2 of the remaining 4 are shitting on Harris by name. Kind of sounds like an unhealthy obsession, in multiple ways.
Commercial exploitation?
Important to clarify that you mean Point Of Sale (the checkout software) since it also makes sense with its other meaning
Reminds me of this
Palpatine’s plan included predetermining every hand of cards Lando and Han each got in Sabacc /s
I remember the first time I was an authorized personnel only
I mean isn’t the thing about the Fediverse that if your host instance gets entrenched in enshittification or financial ruin then you can just leapfrog from instance to instance and have all of your old posts still online and the content and userbase of one community can be migrated to another community on another server?
The explanation page doesn’t have anything yet, but this feels like it has references to the Futurama episodes “The Late Philip J. Fry” and “Lethal Inspection”, with just a hint of Slartibartfast from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
[EDIT: After making this comment, I noticed that those two Futurama episodes happen to be back-to-back with each other. xkcd must be in the middle of watching the series]
Maybe they got to the dump and there was a big sign and chain across the dump saying “Closed on Thanksgiving” and they had never heard of a dump closed on Thanksgiving before and with tears in their eyes they drove off into the sunset looking for another place to put the garbage. They didn’t find one. ‘Til they came to a side road and off the side of the side road there was another fifteen foot cliff and at the bottom of the cliff was another pile of garbage. And they decided that one big pile is better than two little piles and rather than bring that one up they decided to throw theirs down.
AI chats are known for their overconfident persuasiveness, especially when incorrect. IIRC the job was pretty much just yapping that exact type of rhetoric.
The deleted scene with the scared gonk droid is classic cheesiness
