  • One day people will realize that you can make money when the stock market goes down

Causing it to go down is much easier than making it go up

Smart people looking to make money on a declining market told him some "smart" stuff to do. He believes it is smart. It is smart for the people that profit. Just hurts so many.

He believes he is special, like some kind of perfect business man where the "deals" always get done and work out in the end for him.

He has been used his whole life like a rich monkey to make others money thinking he was the brains behind the whole operation

  • Have you tried an auto rotating mechanical pencil?

Other mechanical pencils suck because you get a flat side on the lead. An auto rotating one fixes this problem and makes it like new everytime you pick up and put down the tip to write.

  • I'm not arguing if the system is good or bad. I think there should be a good retirement system in place.

Average person makes 65k in America

SS is 12.4% usually split between employee and employer.

    That's 8k a year.

Average SS monthly payment is ~2k

18 to 62 is 44 years of payment.

    65k × 12.4% = ~8k per year payment

    44 × 8 = ~350k

    62 to 78 is 16 years. 2k × 12 = 24k per year

    16 × 24k = ~384k

So looking right now if I made average pay, paid SS when I was 18, worked until 62, collected SS at 62, died at 78. I would be looking at a 10% return on my investment

Even more if I live past 78

If I came to you said said. "Would you invest for the next 44 years and I'll give you your money back after and 10% more over 16 years, but I'm going to have to have new people entering my "scheme" to pay you..."

That would be a ponzi scheme.

If the government simply kept the money paid and then paid it back with interest earned loaning it out until time to pay. SS wouldn't be in a crisis.

  • A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment that pays existing investors with money from new investors. The scheme operators don't actually invest the money, and the scheme collapses when it can't attract new investors.

If the United States didn't have younger people to pay into the system, new investors, the "ponzi scheme" collapses.

The US government, the scheme operator, doesn't invest the money it receives. Instead, it hands it to previous investors

Now I'm not against a national insurance or something. But we know even with new investors the SS fund is going to run out.

If the government saved the money it was paid and treated it like a real savings account or treated it like insurance.

But the way it is now, it can't run forever. Just like a ponzi scheme

  • Well you can start driving in US at 15

    Like I said quick Google

Even less Germans driving, proves my point more

Germans only really drive if they are willing and able

    Americans are forced to drive

Car deaths in America aren't happening because they have automatic transmissions and can't drive as fast as they want.

Just the seer amount of drivers, more cars on roads to crash into, and less willing and able drivers.

  • Quick Google

In 2024 36% of Germans reported using the car daily.

In 2023 95.3% of Americans older than 16 drive on occasions.

    83 million Germans, 63% above 16

    340 million Americans, 65% above 16

52 million potential drivers in Germany, 17 million actually drive

221 million potential drivers in America, 210 million drive daily

17 million vs 210 million daily drivers

~12x more drivers, only 2x more death

Per capita isn't really a way to look at it

Besides automatic cars or lack of a manual transmission is not causing accidents.

Chance of death goes up significantly with speed

No one has ever crashed because they couldn't go over the speed limit

  • Bank robber. Get away driver.

    Would be a good analogy.

Yes, the bank robber shot and killed the clerk.

But they are both bank robbers

Who is more evil? The one that does the act or the one that enables it?

  • Online review for a Yeti dog bowl said "Great bowl! Just don't get your dog's name engraved on it because it will outlast them!"

My grandfather said "It already comes with his name engraved on it"

Now my dog is named Yeti

  • "Free"

    Nothing is free

Someone paid for the fountain. Either you, your neighbor, your friend, or your fellow countryman. But someone.

Why nickel and dime everyone that is probably never going to even see the fountain instead of letting the people that want/need pay for it?

Cold filtered water at just a single park you regularly go to is probably worth 3 bucks a month.

If extra money went to park improvements, that would be even better.

I don't see why everyone wants "free" when it's just a hidden cost that you're probably paying anyways. Yes, probably costs more for the people that use the service more, but that's the way it should be.

Personally I'd rather save 20 dollars on my taxes and bring water to the park. Even still tap water is just fine.

Why would I even want to pay 5 dollars more in taxes so someone doesn't have to bring a water bottle?

This is a premium service that shouldn't be the burden of the taxpayer.

  • It's "I can excuse animal cruelty, but I draw the line on abortion"

  • They mean a day old chicken that has hatched. They are comparing a human embryo to a live chick.

If it is a male chicken that is not going to lay eggs, it will get shredded

To my knowledge they do not have an inexpensive way, let's be honest any way that costs any money is probably not going to be used unlessed forced, to find the sex of the chicken before it is hatched.

It's called chick culling if your interested in reading about how 7 billion male chick's get shredded each year worldwide.

  • So a Japanese character that I've never heard speak English says something in Japanese. English words pop up on screen.

You're telling me you read the English words in a random Japanese/English accent? Like a stereotype voice?

  • I find subtiles distracting

I read the words that pop up on the screen in my own voice in my head and basically ignore the voices because I can not understand them anyways.

I enjoyed Death Note in dubbed

I enjoyed Alice in Boarderlands in subbed, dubbed was bad

I'm split on Money Heist. My friend showed me it in English and I watched the whole first episode without realizing it was dubbed. Trying to watch it subbed after that was like the characters were not speaking the language I thought they did. It was weird.

I can see some people hating the lips not matching up, but I don't really look at.

Maybe if I was big into subbed shows I'd like them more and I'm sure I'd get better at enjoying subtitles.

But I am the kind of person that would want to rewind a movie or show because I didn't understand what a character said. I hate feeling like I am missing important information.

  • Sleepaway Camp

  • They would only be in a bad situation because minimum wage is low and they will be missing tips.

A pizza driver in the US is guaranteed at least minimum wage while they are on the clock.

To my knowledge, Uber style delivery services are not going to fire you for not working a night.

The typical pizza place has managers that will force workers to work. If you are forced to work and someone calls in a pizza, you are forced to deliver.

Im sure there are people out there that have 4x4s and enjoy the extra tips in the hazardous conditions.

But you could also be risking some poor soul life that's being forced to deliver in their Honda civic.

Those people can't say no to their managers in fear of being fired. It's what the whole comment was about. They can't quit, fired could be worse.

  • A delivery driver is already towards the bottom of the job ladder

Not many can say "I can be without work for a week or two while I look for a better/safer job"

Can they say no? Yes, can they really say no? Probably not

  • Coke does an inaugural bottle for every president

This is just the first diet one

  • Same style as every other inaugural coke

  • Coke has been doing this every year.

He probably wanted to be special and the ability to say "First DIET coke inaugural bottle"

From the comments here, it seems like his plan of making people think Coke is doing it to endorse him is working.
