  • Same. I'm barely in my office anymore since I started even just a hybrid work from home schedule. It's good to separate the work space from other spaces imo

  • Oh hell ya. I won't have to Google to find the specific ffmpeg command I need anymore with this?

  • Also the community episode

  • It was. But there were interesting effects from Reddit getting huge, like more niche subreddits and random encounters, like someone posting a proposal pictures and the targets of it being able to find it online. That probably wouldn't happen on Lemmy.

Probably a worthy trade for better discussion and less bots, though.

  • Same thing with the Hutus and the Tutsis during the Rwandan Genocide, or Turkish and Armenian people, except even closer than that probably. It's ridiculous.

  • Plus Snowden's revelations showing that the US can use them to spy on people, like they did with AT&T, Microsoft, and other US companies.

  • Well, software devs haven't exactly been known for being good at communications lol. Hence the need for the people guy in Office Space.

  • Ya this has kind of pushed me to donate to my instance admin. Ya'll work so hard. That includes you users making content and responding to posts with comments! Love you!

  • Beautiful

  • I'm going to guess that everything else became so expensive, like food and rent, that people have less money to spend on a computer, and there's is particularly expensive. But that's just my guess.

  • Thankw for the post! But great. A whole new thing I didn't know I had to look out for and worry about. Every day I'm reminded of the part of Good Place that talks about all the little bad things we do every day without meaning to or thinking about it.

  • Not to mention that a grid doesn't have to be a coal or gas plant. Lots of houses have solar charging now, for example.

  • What's wrong with palm oil?

  • I definitely know everyone can't work from home, I've got a couple coworkers who can't focus there because they got kids, or a spouse who works from home and takes meetings in the one office, or they need the social interaction. But, wfh saves gas, saves money on commute, allows saving money on childcare, more flexibility with doctor and dentist appointments, and has tons of other benefits. It's got lots of benefits, especially in cities with tons of traffic. Having it be a choice seems like the best option all around.

  • It's even better than money, it's Loompa Coin. Sure it's worth nothing now, but that just means it's a great investment. Any day now the value will skyrocket...

  • I'm glad it's not just me that has noticed that Google has been utter crap lately. Which is weird, because it's their main freaking product.

  • Interesting. It's funny because California is always depicted as full of liberals, commies, and hippies by Republicans lol. Just because there was some Beatniks in San Francisco probably, and LA is a big city and those tend to go blue.

  • These tech companies bring a lot of money to California but also produce some of the worst people in it lol

  • Haha sorry, hope I didn't come off as angry at you. It's just people like that make me angry and then I spout off. That was more to vent and I guess for other people who may agree with her.
