Hi, I'm also Terencio on mastodon.social and Sergio on lemmy.world.
Oh yeah? Well, how's the quality of their copper?
You can always just practice a death metal growl. You never know when it might come in handy. My aunt's cat clawed me once and I just said: "Kitten!" in my best death metal growl. It looked at me all shocked and hasn't messed with me since.
tension rising, body tingling, adrenaline spiking, soundless scream, body paralyzed, hissing names hoping someone will hear but no one comes. My flesh melts, my teeth fall out, void fall, abyss calls, never ending, rotten skin, smell of blood, moving slow, can’t run.
Fam, this would make an awesome thrash metal song. Maybe you don't have nightmares, it's just a dark muse.
So what's y'all's favorite Siouxsie song? Mine's gotta be "Exterminating Angel":
Plumes of dirt caress a urine colored sunSwarms of angels come to kill your sonsAnd there's nothing but black holesWhere the stars should have been
I would travel as far and as long as I could before I died, exposing people to my germs and viruses so they have a stronger immunity when the Spanish arrive.
You're the Ter-meat-nator!
Dissenting opinion: you have powered a mech suit of bone your entire life.
omg this is awesome I always loved this song precisely because he sounds so melancholy while singing it. he doesn't sound like an autotuned professonal singer, he's just some guy singing a song about how he lives, with very mixed feelings.
ikr, iirc cats are hard to study bc they dgaf. Also it's not likely that you hang out with your cat while saying your own name. But if you have a couple people in the house and they call each other by name, it's possible the cat knows those sounds to be associated with the respective person.
Also, the cat "names" you according to your smell and the sound that you make while approaching, besides your visual appearance. They likely have some kind of cognitive representation that ties those percepts with their memories of your shared history. But it's true that they don't have a constructed symbol system that they use to share that representation with other creatures.
My list of non-meme, non-politics, and non-tech communities is a comment on that pinned post. To complement that...
MEMES, SOCIAL MEDIA REPOSTS, AND HUMOR
Most of these are currently active. (except for the ones with a * which were less active last I checked). Sometimes these include politics but that's not the sole focus.

Oh, so it takes place in Europe?
Don't feel bad, "chum", as an illocutionary act it works. It's kind of like how you can say "what's up?" and the other person says "how's it going?" and neither answers the question, bc at the illocutionary level you're just saying "hi".
OOO! Sick Burn! No really, quit exposing yourself to all those rays, you're getting sick from the burn...
There's gotta be a "touch grass" joke in there, but I'm not in the mood to look for it.
On the bright side, this way we don't have to go to facebook.
The May sumo tournament in Japan ended Saturday, and I was posting daily links to videos on !sumo@lemmy.world. According to trendingcommunities,
- last March when I started doing this for the March tournament, we had 47 subscribers to start and 77 to end.
- This tournament we had 83 subscribers to start and currently have 112 subscribers.
It was a pretty good experience, it gave me a reason to watch the highlight videos without feeling like I was alone in the world doing so -- even tho there wasn't much discussion, there'd be a handful of upvotes for each post showing there were at least some readers/viewers.
Last March I tried posting multiple links to youtube videos, one post per link. This got a bit confusing bc some of the videos were posted after a delay. So this tournament I just made one post like "videos for day 12 of the tournament" and put all the relevant links there, updating when the delayed ones came out. That worked a lot better. First, I was making "image" posts instead of "video" posts so I didn't have to worry about whether the thumbnail would be automatically generated, what it would be, whether it would propagate, etc. it did mean I had to find a good image from the highlights, but that was OK I liked watching the highlight videos as described above. Second, it gave me a "template" to make posts from (I just took the previous day's text and modified it) which was good bc I was usually doing it first thing in the morning and still kinda dazed.
Anyway, next sumo tournament's in 2 months, and I hope I'm able to post about it again!
