  • My guy/gal/nonbinary pal: pls see the references in this https://medicpro.london/2025/05/08/vaping-and-popcorn-lung-separating-fact-from-fiction/ Diacetyl has been widely banned since 2014 in all but the most trash Chinese vape juice, and quality vendors never used it in the first place.

Also the supposed cases of popcorn come from one source. Some dude in California who cut his cannabis juice with it, and in every single case the kids that got sick were using his juice in vape pens, not actually vaping. It's Friday night here and I'd rather not track the story down but if you really want it I'll find it.

As a former life long smoker, vaping (which is the front line treatment for cessation in the UK) saved my life. Now, however, the shops pushing disposable vapes with super high nicotine salts on to kids - which is illegal almost everywhere - they need to die in a fire. The kids don't get hooked on "vape;' they get hooked on nicotina because those damn things are the equivalent of smoking two or three regular cigarets in one puff.

  • That was a good read, well done! I'd be interested if you ever reconsider Startpage. I've had good success with that on my work computer.

  • Data? No, because there is none. And I have read every.single.study. They are all fucked in some way or another whether it's methodology or the stats or the sample size/composition. Not a single real in vivo study. None. There is exactly one researcher in Greece doing decent work, and that's it. I took a career change from my previous and now present career and worked in pharma and biotech research.

  • Cyprus will never, ever let Turkey ascend to the EU while they continue to illegally occupy 1/3 of Cyprus.

Ascension votes must be unanimous. I don't know why anyone at any time thought Turkey might join the EU.

  • Not sure what you mean, but you seem to engage in good faith so have an updoot thingy.

  • Yeah I'd say in many cases fair enough assessment except that I don't think we are all down Gen Z; those folks are the ones who, unlike us, know what's going on and will have to save everyone's ass. The kids these days are all right by me.

And more to the point, pretty much every Gen X parent I know feels the same about Gen Z, the "kids these days." Yeah, their way of life is a bit alien to us, but they skipped right over the sexism, racism, and classism that Gen X had to sort of bumble their way out of.

  • Off topic, bur why is OP banned?

  • Hey woah, this Gen Xer just downvoted that a**hole. Gen X is supposed to be cynical, not nihilistic.

  • Now do the ablative and dative.

  • Cry cry

  • Startpage is the business, can confirm. Only default on FF on my work computer though, boo to Safari (and the dumb add on that doesn't actually add it).

  • There are days....

  • Shipping and petroleum - got an old Ikea Mercator map behind me for quick looks and estimations.

  • I'm in the one and only line of work where Mercator makes sense, and even I hate Mercator.

  • 100% agree. With climate change, folks are not going to stop coming, not going to just stay at home and die. We have to urgently reform the whole immigration system with an emphasis on integration.

And by integration I don't mean giving up their own cultures or language, but rather that life is better for people when they are comfortable in their environment. You won't get comfortable if no one shows you how the culture works, which, it's been my experience, they don't.

  • My fellow Europeans, fight! Keep fighting until we drive them back to their basements!

  • Ah ok, that's a better outcome!

  • I did not know he lost his job over stupid internet points. I mean, he did a kind of minor shitty thing, but losing your job?
