  • Where were you in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s? People have historically hated programmers. They've been picked on for so long that they made a documentary about it called Revenge of the Nerds.

Then something shifted in the 2010s and suddenly it's now cool to be into technology. I used to be picked on for being on the computer all the time, now everyone is addicted to their pocket computer, even the ones who made fun of me for it! It's so bad that we have an entire generation of children who can't function without being glued to a screen 24/7. I don't get what happened. Engagement algorithms?

  • Use a reverse image search; it's a really common image and easily found. Don't make others do your dirty work.

  • Yeah no kidding; I'm the same age and she looks 20 years older than me.

  • Don't sign into Windows with an online account. You can still do offline only accounts and it fixes this problem. The Microsoft Store still works too but IDK why you'd use that.

  • What the fuck is the sole commenter on that article even trying to say?

  • This article is from 2017. You even had to post a Wayback link.

  • I vibe coded an autohotkey script to automate most of my job. It works reasonably well, and frees up enough time that I can now get paid to browse the web. The only part I can't automate with a vibe-coded script is physically moving documents to the scanner, but if I figured out a way to automate that with robotics then my company wouldn't need me anymore.

  • Haven't been following the news? He's trying to start WWIII in order to stay in power.

  • Then why is my dad dead? :(

  • My entire job depends on such an app, so this is a bit of a relief.

  • This "child" could be 7 or 17, which makes a huge difference regarding the appropriateness of their response. We need more context.

  • I was about to say, "past interest"!? How naïve the article writer was a year ago...

  • I get so sick of dealers advertising "$20,000 off! Only $499/mo" for overpriced cars no one wants, when $20K is larger than my entire vehicle budget and the max monthly payment I can handle is $150. My car is 20 years old and it's paid off, and I plan to drive it forever if prices aren't going to go back to reasonable levels.

  • Yeah seriously, all I get for a "pantry", is a narrow cabinet next to the fridge that is about 30% wide as the rest of the kitchen cabinets. It's so small that I freed up a ton of available space by installing spice racks on the inside of the door.

  • Their only job is to enforce a law that has made it a crime to be a brown person from another country who is just trying to make a better life for themselves. We don't need ICE. Their job only exists because of racism. It should not me as difficult as it is to become a legal citizen in the US. Very few people would be here illegally if the path to citizenship wasn't so god damn difficult to begin with.

  • Can confirm. Takes four to six months minimum. If you have other cats sometimes it can take years for them to feel comfortable in their new home.

  • My dude, this is not something you should be bragging about.

  • Rule

    Jump
  • Yeah and IIRC that's when they considered breaking his legs but then just decided not to.

  • Couldn't agree more. But such is life.
