    especially when buying it would be illegal

    Legality in country A is completely irrelevant for suing someone in country B.

    Also, in many countries having a realistic chance of winning the case is not a prerequisite to suing anyone for anything.

If someone wants to take away your things without giving anything back you either give up ownership or use (the threat of) violence to defend your ownership. That threat of violence might be deferred and abstracted to a legal system, but in the end it is all rooted in force.

  • It is unreasonable to expect a state to allow each and every citizen to pick and chose which program to use when communicating with them even if just a single person is involved. As soon as multiple people are supposed to all be in the same virtual room it is effectively impossible.

    So what happened here is that the state changed which program(s) it "forces" you to use. Do you have a more specific point about why domestic options are supposed to be worse for that than the ones from U.S. Big Tech companies? Because if not, you don't have a point at all.

  • Not who you originally asked, but I am aware of an example where Windows is still better than Linux for a specific game: Guild Wars 2. Not because of anything directly in the game, but there is an insanely useful overlay program called BlishHUD that runs as a separate process. On Windows it just works; on Linux it is a pain to get it to mostly work.

    But overall things have clearly shifted from gaming on Linux being a joke, to being possible but a huge pain, to being ok-ish but a bit clumsy, to finally being sometimes even better and on average equal. There will always be differences, and Windows currently still has the benefit of being the default. Maybe that too will change one day.

    That is a tiny fraction of a rounding error for a company that size. And it doesn't come anywhere near being just compensation for the stress and loss of time it likely caused.

    There should be some kind of general punitive "you tried to screw over a customer or the general public" fee defined as a fraction of the companies' revenue. Could be waived for small companies if the resulting sum is too small to be worth the administrative overhead.

  • Ich habe viele Jahre gebraucht um Spaghetti zu verstehen. Angeblich sollen die ja Soße besonders gut anhaften lassen können. Das ergab für mich nie Sinn, weil so ein langes dünnes Fadending weit entfernt ist von einem guten Verhältnis von Oberfläche zu Volumen für solche Zwecke. Und solche Themen können leider, wie hier gerade wieder zu beobachten ist, nur schwer diskutiert werden ohne emotionale Reaktionen auszulösen die Erkenntnisgewinn verhindern.

    Irgendwann habe ich dann aber doch mit einem sehr entspannten Kollegen aus Italien darüber geredet, der es mir in Ruhe erklärt hat: Durch das Aufrollen entsteht eine schwamm-artige Struktur, und die Soße haftet in den Zwischenräumen.

    Ergibt alles total Sinn, wenn es richtig präsentiert wird.

    Spaghetti durchbrechen macht zwar die Handhabung einfacher, ruiniert aber die Möglichkeit aus einer Gruppe von schlechten Formen durch Gabelrotation eine sehr gute Form zu erzeugen.

    Mein Vorschlag an der Stelle wäre also entweder die Handhabung zu üben bis das kein Problem mehr ist oder direkt eine andere Nudelform zu wählen, die ohne komplexe Handhabung bessere Soßenhalteeigenschaften aufweist.

  • Die moralische Bewertung mal kurz bewusst beiseite gestellt habe ich Fragen zur praktischen Umsetzung, bzw zum "Nutzen" dieser Pläne:

    Angenommen es findet sich ein Drittstaat der das tatsächlich mitmacht, wie und warum soll es einfacher oder schneller möglich sein Leute dort hin abzuschieben als direkt in ihr Herkunftsland? Geht es da um Fälle bei denen das Herkunftsland nicht feststellbar ist? Oder wo es nicht kooperiert? Sind das wirklich so viele, dass das einen messbaren Unterschied macht? Oder hab ich sonst irgendwas übersehen?

  • Die Christen sind ganz sicher nicht eine Religion. Ist kompliziert eine genaue Zahl zu finden, aber das sind unzählige unabhängige Gruppen die sich wegen den albernsten Meinungsverschiedenheiten gerne nochmal weiter aufspalten.

    Die Kirche des Fliegenden Spaghettimonsters ist im Gegensatz dazu eine untrennbare Einheit und allein deshalb schon offensichtlich die bessere Religion.
