  • I'll try to find it, but I thought I saw an organization that was trying to come up with a standard Linux flavor for vehicles. If not, it definitely needs to happen

  • What the fuck

  • The blades move a lot faster than trees or branches do, especially at the tips. I would guess that is mostly a miscalculation on the birds part, as in "oh this is open air, I'll fly right through" and the blade comes and hits them

  • I would go with endeavoros or cachyos instead tbh. Manjaro has kind of a weird release philosophy that can break things that aren't controlled by the manjaro team. EndeavorOs and Cachy are very similar, but both are basically arch with a decent installer and some sane preinstalled software to get you going out of the box.

  • Amazing, they went to get rid of the lack of tax on just the value that the solar panels add to the house. They also ignore other exemptions that burden the mass because reasons. Also they note that the additional tax income from this is on $2.2m of a total taxable of like $5.1b, so its basically negligible.

  • Another small one for driving: unless you need to stop/slow down, it's far better to just let of the gas/accelerator and coast that to touch the brakes and risk breaking traction. This goes for things like, unsure if person in lane a wants to move over? Unsure if person is going to pull out? Similar things. If its slick, you really don't want to overuse your brakes.

  • That's cool! If it were me, I'd have broken all be edges with a rasp or file, but that's just my preference

  • Yeah whole, raw foods make it a lot harder because you don't cook with fats. I guess if you just ate steamed veggies or roasted without oil it would have the same effect. Basically oil/fats can really sneak up on you, which is a big problem with processed foods.

  • I don't understand this. You can still overeat while being a vegan, and it's not terribly hard. It would be a lot harder if you did stick to whole foods and ate things as raw as possible, but I can't imagine that's the bulk of vegans.

  • I saw a clip of that yesterday, and I genuinely do not know how anyone in that audience could take that seriously. It take seems like satire. I hate this timeline.

  • Why the fuck is trump censored?

  • Did he have a stroke typing that or am I out of the loop with wrestling lingo and it makes sense to people?

  • Finally one of those drag Queens I've been hearing about! Oh wait

  • In the past I used CAD 95% of the time in the form of Solidworks, so I had to use windows. The other 5% of the time I used excel, so i probably could have dual booted, but I never bothered. Fortunately (kinda) my current job uses it a lot less, so I main Linux and for small prototypes I use FreeCAD on Linux and dual boot windows for the bigger projects that demand the speed in Solidworks

  • It's far from perfect, but it's really digestible (for me at least) but starting with Wikipedia articles on socialism, marxism, communism, and go on a few of the standard wiki link rabbit trails. Once you get a good understanding of the overviews you'll likely come up with some questions that drive more learning sessions. At some point it's worth reading the original theories, but I would save that for much later personally

  • If you're concerned about losing focus per "session", I would take it in small doses. Start with the big picture ideas first, then narrow the scope each time you study to add more and more understanding and nuance.

If you're concerned about losing focus long term akin to losing interest in the topic, I'm not sure I can help much other than read the news and watch interviews and discussions and debates around the topic and focus the inevitable anger that arises from everyone misunderstanding the topic into learning it so you can push back against the "socialism is when government does things" drivel

  • Preventative maintenance is always cheaper than fixing things after it gets fucked up

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

How can I view logs from last session?

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

    Best way to swap drives?

  • Woodworking @lemmy.ca

When you hear "Solid wood", how do you interpret that?
