  • Don’t forget the other option that started appearing during COVID: having to send a message to your GP via their surgery’s website, as if you’re making a customer support query.

And of course they never read them properly, reply with something either generic or useless, and then make you restart the whole process to ask any follow-up questions.

  • Are you seriously suggesting they deliberately got their game banned from Steam?

No developer is out there voluntarily withdrawing from the biggest games market just for the sake of ‘clout’.

It’s not a conspiracy, Valve just made a decision and other storefronts reacted.

  • A company I used to work for switched to 4-day weeks for a time and everyone was much happier, especially those with children or other caring responsibilities. Productivity was the same or better.

But, predictably, they later did a U-turn and forced everyone back to 5-day weeks. The justification given was ‘some’ people weren’t always taking the extra day off. No figures given, no additional info.

I, and everyone else, strongly suspected it was just the C-suite not liking the idea of people getting the same pay for one day less. Purely ideological.

  • Right move, wrong reasons.

  • Took me a second but I see it now - very cartoony. I like it!

  • Off topic, but I’ve not seen that emoticon before (unusually left-facing too!) and it’s adorable.

  • You can buy a kit online and do it at home with a guide or video.

  • They said ‘more than decimated’, so your semantic pedantry isn’t just pointless, it’s also wrong.

  • Financial success is a poor measure for the worth of artists of any stripe. If anything, it has an inverse relationship.

  • At last, some closure for her grieving family.

  • Too young. RG won’t be the same without him.

  • people want a keyboard on a phone not more folds

I don’t give a shit what most people want

    🤔

  • Sales figures and market trends suggest most people do not, in fact, want a keyboard.

You might want a keyboard on your phone. Lots of people here might want a keyboard on their phone. People on Lemmy are not most people.

  • Wow, haven’t seen anyone use ‘phablet’ for years!

  • It’s possible to clarify your position without first insulting the person you’re replying to, fyi

  • TLDR:

Android devices will be permitted for personal use but prohibited from any operational or command purposes.

They cite security concerns. It only affects senior officers.

  • Hope it works well - best of luck with the project!

  • Infrastruction or Infrastructor?

  • Also UK and similar, except our council has five categories:

    • General refuse
    • Paper and cardboard
    • Other/mixed recycling (plastic, metal, glass)
    • Compostable food waste
    • Garden waste (optional, at additional cost)

Food waste is collected every time, but the others alternate each week between either general refuse + paper or just mixed recycling.

If you pay for garden waste collection, it gets picked up once every two weeks during ‘gardening season’, or once a month during the winter.

We also don’t get wheelie bins - you have to provide your own general refuse container. Many people don’t bother and just leave loose bin bags out, which sometimes results in foxes scattering rubbish all over the street. Recycling goes in plastic crates and food waste in a caddy, which are provided by the council.
