  • In Ukrainian GTA the automobiles steal you instead.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if the actual intent of Japan's remilitarization is to just bully South Korea for islands.

  • Back in my day we'd strap 5 reams if paper to our chests and call it a day. (jk)

  • Same, I think there is some valid criticism to be made here about getting too caught up in romanticizing the act of revolution in itself and the aesthetics sounding it while neglecting the nuts and bolts of actually bringing about socialism. It's a real pitfall that Marxists should discipline themselves against.

  • The distance between southern Florida and Northern Venezuela is roughly the same distance as between Yemen and Israel who manages to shoot missiles into Israel so yes, even if discounting super missiles like the Oreshnik. Politically Russia has no qualms sending missiles to Venezuela since loosening such arms export restrictions is a retaliatory measure Russia enacted once the US supplied ATACMS missiles to Ukraine.

  • There are a few French and British controlled islands out in the Caribbean so maybe they worried the US will try to use war as an excuse for coming in and seizing them as staging zones. With Europe struggling with energy prices I also imagine they aren't thrilled by the idea of a major oil producing country being bombed.

  • It's been a cringe autocratic oligarchy since it's independence, they have merely been forced to maintain good relations with Russia and China due to economic factors and proximity. It was never going to take much to have them jump to the West.

  • China is freefalling in reverse.

  • I mean...these are Republican senators from states like Florida, Ohio and Tennessee. You are better off pleading Freddy Kreuger to spare you.

  • My armchair points:

    1. It was the first socialist state in history, first attempts at anything are rarely successful.

    2. The USSR had to inherit the absolute mess the Russian Empire left over with a lot of anti-Russian sentiment left over in the peripheral republics. Over time their Anti-Russianism morphed into anti-communism.

    3. WW2 killed much of the ideologically disciplined vanguard and forced the USSR to lower the standards of who was recruited in.

    4. Western propaganda and sabotage. An obvious point but a point nonetheless. The US dwarfed the USSR's soft power influence with USSR having little to compete with the likes of Hollywood and whatnot.

    5. Economically competing with rest of the world while isolated and alone is an extremely tall task no matter the merits of your education and workforce.
  • I worked in retail so you can probably guess my opinion on Christmas.

  • You either die a naive liberal who thinks the government is run by trained professionals or you live long to see demented shitposting on .gov websites.

  • Yeah add another random country on the list of places to bomb during the middle of a government shutdown because why not.

  • I think it might be less about taking others oil and more about simply destroying other's oil production as part of a strategy to starve China of oil trading partners. I think it's quite likely the US instructed Israel to strike Iran's oil and gas back when they attacked and are telling Ukraine the same with their drone strikes on Russian oil refineries. Destroying other's energy also means higher prices meaning the US can suck more out of Europe.

  • Thing is, is that US's ability to bully and project military power is the sole thing holding up the US dollar's value as a fiat currency. The US is following the Mongol Empire's blueprint of "things are worth this much because we said so", and the moment they get called out is the moment everything implodes.

  • I did inventory management in a retail store once and we lost far, far more items to being poorly loaded and smashed inside trucks during transport then to theft, and there was never any accountability whatsoever. When things get stolen though everyone loses their minds. I can say though that police really don't give two shits about hunting down shop lifters after they are gone even for expensive items so there is that.

  • Trotskyist Reagan confirmed???

  • From what little I know of Paraguay they have a history of strange right wing populist politics. Apart from that I imagine they are jumping on Argentina's bandwagon.
