I thought you were aiming for screen take-over, to be honest. That or DRM, where you prevent downloads and/or screen-shots. Now you've got me wondering if we could hack a solution together with the existing Lemmy markup, but I doubt it.
. . . are you trying to re-invent the GIF/PNG or video-file?
Basically, what I'm getting at, is that most social-media(particularly facebook, tumblr, twitter, tiktok) do "slideshows" as video. Web-pages can do whatever-you-want by comparison, but that's not what you asked about(can we do frames on Lemmy, pretty-please? /s), so: Powerpoint can export directly to video, Google Slides will export to PNG, and LibreOffice ... well ... you'll need OBS or some other screen-recorder for video, but also, it'll export to GIF. Same goes for album software, like Windows Photo or digiKam. Even the Gallery app that came with my phone will do it, although surprisingly, Google Photos on Android either won't do it or is just too obtuse for me to figure it out just now.
Also, you seem to be unaware that albums can be accomplished by embedding multiple photos in the post content. You can throw a slideshow video in as your header, then put the pics that made it in the post body
(^this part^).
Sorry, but I don't want you or anyone putting an album where I have no choice but to see the whole thing clogging-up my feed - even on tumblr, long posts start collapsed to a small chunk with a "See More" fold. I quite like how its done here, with a tap on a thumbnail, then a tap on the [+] for the rest.
As for how we got here ... blame ActiveX and flash-embedded malware. I'm still salty at the prevalence of JavaScript in their stead.
IMHO, presentation software should have become little more than a specialized HTML/CSS, Video, or -yes-even-Album-editor long-ago. Its continued existance as-is just leads to idiots who think their presentation skills make them the second-coming, and questions like yours.
To be clear, I appreciate you asking this. Your question isn't in any way stupid or bothersome. I had not bothered to spell-out or organize my thoughts on the matter in ... maybe ever. Can't wait to find out I've basically plagarized some post or comment I read forever-ago.
The number of leaders among reservists, guardsmen and organizations like the VFW or American Legion who would fight for the opportunity to "relieve" active-duty units of the "burden" of helping with such events will probably be more bothersome to manage than whatever "lack of resources" shits-geth is expecting to inflict.
It wasn't enough to try and fail to get the Marines and Army to destroy our most populous cities, to the point they "had-to" allow swastika tattoos in the Coastguard and literally bribe people(to an absurd degree) into ICE, now they're going after the civilian institutions that helped swell the military's ranks for decades.
It's like they're trying to train new leopards to bite thier own faces off, but like "when you behead me, a real man would do it with the backside of a Bowie-knife." Real clown-car antics from people that won't even have a friend to drive the car, let alone people to fill it, when their bullshit's all played-out.
"Friend, I'll be honest, I don't want to bother you with this meta-awkwardness either, but its reached the point where I need you to either stab me, forgive me, or agree its just too awkward not to share, if I am ever to sleep again."
... even then, I have strong doubts about the prevalence of various "pie searches" on this map, and the criteria of "unique" doesn't fit when multiple states have the same results.
I've been in Indiana for an AWFULLY long time to have never seen a Peanut Butter Pie at all, let alone at Thanksgiving. Pumpkin, Apple, Sweet Potato, and maybe Pecan, Cherry or even Peach pies, sure, but I'm not entirely convinced that half the other stuff on this map even exists.
That was 20 years ago. Few, if any of those employees would still be with the company today. "Knowing" means nothing to the passage of time, particularly in the tech sector.
No they're not. IBM sold the brand and supply chain off. Not sure how many employees were kept, transfered, or axed, but the concensus has long been that it wasn't enough to justify your claim.
It's probably skewed by how many of us have consoles more powerful than our "gaming" PC's. I don't know many PS5 or Xbox Series X owners that are bothering with a more powerful PC. Give us something that has a chance in hell of bringing-in some converts.
That said, I'm not talking about myself - my consoles are all at least a generation behind, but even then, beating those is not such a low bar once you take the smoothness and consistency of the user-experience into account.
Anyone got past the paywall to establish whether its women being victimized with the random-ass pics mentioned in the first couple paragraphs, or young girls(minors) being victimized with yearbook photos, as the title implies?
I feel like an opportuinity was missed, in favor of leaving things vague and click-baitey in the name of profit/data-mining.
Forsaken 64 (multiplayer does things with "4th Dimensional" space I've never seen elsewhere, else this slot would belong to Descent)
No Man's Sky (open to others for this slot, but not aware of any that check the same boxes for me)
Minecraft (Factorio mods)
Armored Core (any besides 3)
Starcraft or Dawn of War or Total War ... so long as the best of the RTS genre is represented
Wait ... no new games ever? Wtf, just kill me. ... or rather, why bother rebuilding civilization only to stagnate like so?
My list is tailored towards inspiring a re-launch of the industry. I would rather disappear into Amish society than play the same five video-games forever more.
For the love of god, someone wake me if y'all find a summation of the findings of the Jane Austen’s Paper Trail by Naomi Joseph podcast, and not just a review of the podcast, which is itself a sort of review couched in a dialogue between experts who (from a distance) seem content to preface or end each-and-every musing with "it's a mystery, innit?"
For the record, I've read most of Jane Austen's novels. It's this modern meta-of-a-meta take on it all that's got me cross-eyed and wondering why I should bother. Please stop hawking pod-casts in literary spaces.
You would have better luck convincing one of the various app-devs to impliment this. I would suggest an instance-admin, but any instance that implimented it would probably be de-federated left and right.
The day corporations get fifth-amendment rights is the day we should burn the whole thing down. Do these idiots think any of their bull-shit through, or are they hoping they and theirs literally get eaten alive?
