  • Good ideas but I would always assume they are armed. The quicker you can do what you came to do and then engage the better, so keep that in mind. Also picking the right moment and escape route.

  • Good tactic but they will absolutely try to arrest you and throw the book at you if you do this so make sure you have the ability to avoid surveillance and arrest if you plan to do something like this.

  • Even though I think it's a huge problem to consider pacs or donations speech, there are some legitimately thorny issues here. How do we define speech in a way that allows us to clamp down corruption but does not interfere with the free press? And if we do find a ruling or law that walks this line, do the rich simply find another avenue to exert influence?

    Not that these fights don't matter--shifting the balance of power towards the people and away from the rich is a good thing. But I have come to believe that extreme wealth is simply incompatible with democracy. When you have enough time and money you can always find a way to subvert the rule of law, and it's usually in your interests to do so. But of course this leaves us with the question of how to destroy the political power of the wealthy in a political system that is now heavily rigged against us. I know what some people will say but I still haven't seen a really good answer to this question.

    Maybe syndicalism, but labor tactics have been heavily restricted by federal and some state laws. So this would require more willingness on the part of unions to break the law, and a much clearer and more radical vision for our political system. Right now I don't see this has much popular support. And the time to build this support is limited as fascism tightens its hold and automation and AI threaten to undermine the bargaining power workers hold today.

  • True. We have the same dynamic here with rain so I should have known. But it still looks miserable to me!

    I prefer to never experience temperatures below freezing. Or even near it.

  • I don't have any issue with communism as it's actually defined. A classless, moneyless, stateless society sounds nice but I'm unsure it's possible. But I do have a problem with the charlatans who have come to be referred to as communists in popular parlance.

    Similarly, I would say the rhetoric around color revolutions is actually anti-communist. Communism, among other things, is stateless, so if you are smearing and delegitimizing popular uprisings against oppressive governments, that is in reality an anti-communist mentality.

  • There is no international center. Every place has its own local context and differing ideas of what's left and right. And frankly, the definitions most people use of left and right don't make a lot of sense anyway.

  • Yeah the first is just expressing a sentiment but you've taken no action to make it happen. Once you are offering people money that's an actionable plan and you could be arrested for that.

  • I did click the dropdown. I was fiddling with it and may have left it in the wrong state in this screenshot. Are you saying there should be references there but they aren't displaying?

    It also says pages needing references and the text itself contains no citations. So I'm finding this a bit hard to believe but if someone is able to confirm that would be helpful.

  • Those are not warrants though. We need stop repeating their deceptive name. A warrant requires real judicial oversight. That's just a piece of paper with no legitimate legal force.

  • Oh to be clear there's no factual information. But who they decide to tar and feather is interesting, since tankies can't abide facts, real history, or true convictions of any kind. All need to be sacrificed before the altar of the great leader, whichever one it is they choose to bow before. If they're falsely calling you an anti-communist, it's a good sign, so thanks for the validation!
