  • How relevant is inflation when cost of living has gotten so inflated that the idea of home ownership went the way of renting. So if anything in today's money eating costs can hurt the wallet even more with how essentials are eating up more disposable income.

People bring up inflation as though salaries have kept up like NBA salaries have kept up due to their strong union. But, for every day people salaries have stagnated in relation to cost of property, rent, utilities, and food.

  • Extent of my comfort with AI is through website and interaction is limited to copy and paste or upload. Capabilities not running on a system level.

But, when it comes to actually running on hardware and being able to do things by reading what is on the screen or hearing what is said I don't trust AI to be secure or privacy respecting. When it comes to that type of functionality I'll only trust ones that is compiled myself to run locally as opposed to provided by a corporations who are largely in the business of data collection.

  • Been wondering the same. If the console gets opened up I'll be rushing to get a PS5 to get one with old firmware that hasn't had the exploit patched out.

  • Sponsorblock and Blocking channels is available for PipePipe, but not NewPipe.

  • The forks are great too like PipePipe. I find sponsorblock but most importantly the ability to block channels invaluable, since the algorithm always pushes certain big channels to the top of search results for certain topics. So you always have to scroll past them.

  • I love libre office. Moved to it years ago. And dropped OneNote for Obsidian.

  • That's hilarious. Great way to stress test those hinges. Hope someone records how many hours the hinges held up to playing foldy bird.

  • I think money is better spent on Humble Choice since you can buy months that interest you and skip those that don't, and the games stay in your library. I prefer to spend money to be able to keep games than pay to rent newer ones.

  • Cloud gaming is financially contributing to the end goal of turning hardware ownership into a rental service, so I'm staying away from that. Even if it can't be stopped I don't want to add to the funds endorsing it.

I think the way forward is to just be fine with older hardware and getting less demanding newer titles. There's those who only game on a Steam Deck, and been happy with it. Emulating old games is an option too.

  • When I went to delete my old twitter account a while back it showed me weird politics stuff. Which it shouldn't, since the only accounts I followed were video game or tech hardware stuff.

So yeah these algorithms gave up on trying to show relevant things related to peoples interest, but just moved straight to pushing agenda the platform wants their userbase to fixate on.

  • Do enough people even like the added latency of cloud gaming? And is that going to be tolerated for popular games like COD, Fortnite, or Valorant?

  • If the ARM translation ends up being something that can be done to run Steam games on Android that would be so cool.

  • You just come off as unusually worked up about the Microsoft criticisms is why I ask.

Its not even a lemmy thing exclusive either. From reddit to youtube there's been lot of criticism of the direction of consumer Windows 11 that there's people providing guides now on getting LTSC.

  • Ever since Sony and Nintendo switched to paid online that has no longer been the con it used to be for me. Back for the PS3 I didn't jailbreak it since online was free, but for the switch and ps4 I didn't hesitate.

  • Are you upset at people criticizing Microsoft? Is that the point you are trying to make?

  • Switch to Windows LTSC. Doesn't have copilot, no store, no onedrive, no candy crush and tiktok on a fresh install, and no need to figure out an account bypass.

Its the closest thing to what Windows was up to Windows 7 of a boring OS that you use to launch programs without it trying to be helpful or encourage you to login to an account.

  • Criticism I saw regarding plot was that episode would find some problem that is impossible to solve followed by shouting then random reference like flower ending up being the solution. And that the monsters are aura farming when they encounter the main cast instead of attacking like they do when they come across non essential characters.

  • Buying Android phones and tablets based on what is supported by LineageOS is what I do.

  • I'm waiting to see if they nail the ending to see if its worth watching. I've seen up to Season 4, but just wasn't hyped enough to check out 5. I was the same with Season 4, but then heard enough good things about that season to give it a go.

Haven't heard the same enthusiasm this season though like there was for 4, which I think was helped in large part by Eddie who was a solid character addition.
