  • What you are more likely to see is having to create and log into a Microsoft account on Windows or Apple account on MacOS to gain unrestricted access with IDs for verified accounts to be used on the OS.

With recent attempts at ID collection, subpoenas to reddit demanding user information of those critical of the US admin, and Palantir's involvement your proposal is coming from a position assuming those groups aren't the ones pushing for it.

  • Beginning to wonder if these attempts to push for age restriction are a concerted effort by organizations like Palantir using children to get people buy into it.

Hard to not make the link after subpoenas were issued to those critical of the US administration on reddit.

Would make it much easier to make people fear speaking out against their government on social media if IDs were required, and the government they are under is actively hostile.

That seems to be the end goal with think of the children being an easy entry point.

  • Nope makes no difference.

  • Yeah, accidental voting happens to me when I'm using my phone. Kind of inevitable unless someone uses an app where voting is done through pulling left or right as opposed to tapping.

  • Red flag is that it is an AI person hired for a game division who can't even be trusted if any of their statements were generated through copilot, and they are nothing but a physical placeholder to mouth off copilot commands.

And this hiring coming from the company that has decided shoving copilot into as many different Microsoft products like notepad is the way forward. So a game account is nothing but meaningless fluff when even boomers play games on their phones. Playing games doesn't show any signs of qualifications that indicate consumers will be better off.

Just more moves towards trying to shove AI integration to draw in investors.

  • Celebrities they worship are still on there so another reason they refuse to leave.

  • Gunpla and reading are really nice ways to pass the time.

  • It depends on material too. Algorithm makes recommendations based on similar video, and something like Star Wars for instance has a lot of angry conservatives ranting about it so can skew towards youtube recommendations including them in Star Wars content.

On the other hand searching Expanse is less likely to see those conservative rant channels, since not as much content like that is made for it.

So even though Expanse and Star Wars are scifi, viewing and searching both of them will have different levels of right wing centered media you are likely to be recommended.

And depending on topic of interest the ideology of the most popular channels which youtube promotes also dictates what you'll be recommended even if you don't watch the channel. Like if you search PC stuff LTT will always dominate the first few pages of search results.

  • Yeah, I like OS installed on separate drives and selecting the one I want to boot off of in BIOS. Gets trickier on laptop though that doesn't have multiple drives.

  • I use lemmy not because of privacy since public forums aren't private, but to move away from corporate social spaces profiting off their user base. And also getting back third party apps.

Lemmy feels more like old school Internet of people discussing and talking because they want to as opposed to the whole spaces end goal being to figure out how to IPO.

  • Few powerful people deciding everything and millions falling in line and the few outliers being affected even if they opt out due to decisions of millions of others who support the few powerful sums up the world.

  • It makes sense now why in old scifi movies everything looked all dusty despite being the future.

  • Youtube is Google. I don't see a positive to handing over personal information to Google which is necessary to give them money, and just makes it easier for Google to have all information tied to one signed in account. Having no Google account is best.

  • Freetube is nice alternative to using youtube without an account, since things like subscriptions, playlists, history are saved locally without an account. And you can back up that data.

And with Google being behind youtube its better to avoid signing into their accounts anyways.

Also blocks ads, can download videos, sponsor block, dearrow, and block channels.

Sometimes freetube breaks and that's when I'll fall back to youtube with adblock on browser, but I won't log into youtube. But, you can still use it to get your subscription feed and click on the video to launch to browser.

For mobile I use pipepipe which is a fork of newpipe with sponsorblock and channel blocking.

  • It sucks the entire world turning into a privacy nightmare. Will any country remain the lone hold out against pushing stuff like this on their people?

  • I skipped on remake too since I figured wait for everything to come out would take yeara and years.

  • I play those games for free with friends, but spend zero money on them preferring to spend that money on games that aren't live service.

That's the difference I'm noticing in money spent not on why people play them.

I see no added value in cosmetics and these games tend to give away cosmetics too and enough points to redeem battle pass for free, so you aren't stuck on default outfit if you dont spend.

  • And using either of them doesn't guarantee your data won't get out anyways for products provided by corporations like the recent tiktok outcome showed where a billion dollar company would rather sell out than close down to protect users.

  • Its not me but the person I responded to that is using one phone, so their work may not provide such things.
