  • Just an activation script that is on github and lot of people have used to activate Windows.

  • If you really want to go to Windows 10 might be able to do it with Windows 10 ltsc. Activate it with MAS and should be good seeing as you don't need to be logged into a Microsoft account for it to keep getting security updates unlike what is being offered to Windows 10 Pro and below that needs a Microsoft account to be logged in to first be able to extend support and to stay logged in.

  • Can you install wondows 11 ltsc on it? That's one way to escape copilot crap for a few years while new AI stuff gets pushed on pro versions and below every month.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if they decide it is because they don't have even more AI stuff for every single task that their OS isn't liked more and start shoving in AI into even mouse clicks with "helpful" copilot trying to predict if you are clicking to click or copy and paste.

  • I think I saw it when i went to go update and then somehow the instructions on syncthing 2.0 being its own separate app, since straight up update could cause issues. Not sure if it was pop up within the syncthing app or descriptions page for it on f-droid. Well I do use droidify to install f-droid apps since I prefer the UI so maybe that's why I saw something.

  • Yeah, it seems like kind of a headache to try to get Linux distros that work properly on Macs from what I've searched at least. Asahi Linux seems like the only one that works reliably compared to all the options available to Ryzen and Intel CPUs.

When it comes to Mac since they've moved to their own chips it's seemed like its better to get a Mac to use MacOS, and Linux is more a fall back option in the future when it loses support with how it can be buggy.

  • That's nice to see actually. Regular consumers like us don't have any pull, but businesses do. So I hope more start seeing Microsoft problematic enough to start shifting away to MacOS to get Microsoft to reassess their decisions.

  • Me too. I prefer to be without VR than picking up a meta headset. So it's nice to finally be seeing a quality non meta option.

  • I knew because I install through F-droid instead of github so ended up getting like a notice informing me that to upgrade to 2.0 I should back up the settings then uninstall 1.3 then install 2.0 then back up settings.

But, if retrieving from github or obtanium then maybe message wasn't relayed.

  • Damn you caught me!

  • That sounds the kdrama Mouse where they find the serial killer gene, but just because you had it doesn't mean you'd become one. Sounds like a terrible future and another layer of future discrimination for things beyond people's control that might just be a carrier.

  • During the update to 2.0 you had to uninstall the 1.3 version then install and restore your syncthing-fork settings. So if you are still on 1.3 that's probably why you aren't seeing it. Should pop up if you search F-droid for the 2.0 version.

  • Thanks for bringing attention to this cool game. Would never have heard of it otherwise. And the reasons for the criticisms ended up convincing me to try the game, since it sounds like the dev is really cool.

  • Yeah, server dependent stuff makes sense. Like emails and streaming services that don't function without the servers run by them.

  • Yeah, no subs. I prefer editions. Like Microsoft Office 2020. And then when Microsoft Office 2026 comes out you can still use 2021 or buy 2026 if you want the newer features.

  • Yeah, I moved to F-droid apps because I know there is no junk, and most apps will let me export the data so I can restore it when I switch phones. I didn't use Google backups because they just backed up all apps and was backed up to Google instead of letting you do offline backups like Apple lets you do.

  • Yeah on iOS I dropped money for lumafusion and procreate which is equivalent in price to software on desktops. So people will pay for high quality.

But, have ads and constant begging for subscriptions and locking stuff being subscriptions as opposed to a big one time payment and I'm uninstalling. I hate subscriptions. I'd rather pay for different version updates if I decide the new version is worth it while having the option to keep using the older version without losing access

  • Yeah, community being split up might just lead to inactivity for certain hardware if it isn't popular enough. There's enough overlap with SteamOS that I think being all in one is the best route. Maybe if lemmy gets way more users in the future then splitting up discussion to dedicated hardware communities might be an option, but for now better to be one.

  • Its become Cartmanland to me. I want to check it out. I wouldn't pay for it, but I want to check it out.
