All aboard the LainTrain - We all love Lain!

  • I'd say every belief in the entirety of my socialization as a child was formed through bullying of some sort. You try something, people laugh, mock, beat, harass, it feels bad, your social brain says that was bad, you remember it because it feels bad, you adjust and don't repeat to avoid feeling bad again.

That's how human communities select for behaviour.

As an adult I'd say whether I like it or not I've become increasingly more tolerant of conservatives because of them shoving their shit down our throats everywhere. Things I'd consider so absurd they're not worth the time of day are now ideas that seem almost sensible enough to warrant a rebuttal. I don't like it, but they hold all the cards and make the rules and it works well for them, imo.

  • Hopefully the people mocked will adapt to social pressure and change their beliefs in order to fit in better. Bullying generally does work, even if it sucks.

  • I don't think reasonable is even it for me, it's just a helpful assumption.

If they are doing a perfect job at a Truman show type situation, there's nothing you can do, so you might as well assume they're not and play your role.

  • I didn't even know there was comics, I only knew of the cartoon growing up. I'm the same way, only thing I do is do tarot card readings for me and my gf, we both know it's just for fun, we also got some cool cards with the images from cyberpunk2077 so there's that.

  • Yeah idk I think it's just being edgy. Tbh more people on the left know about Stalin's crimes against humanity than Churchill's.

  • People are fucking weird. I have no idea also. I think it'd be cool if they tried to make a remake even if I personally don't think it'd be any good and I don't think I'd play it, same as the crash bandicoot one. I'd much rather they try and I'm sure some people will make it.

The vast majority of anything is not gonna appeal to me, be it games, movies, shows, whatever, but it's those select few things that make it worthwhile.

  • She is so based honestly. I'm very grateful to her taking these unfortunately controversial positions and standing up for our battered community. Greens are our only hope at this point.

  • Okay, I see the light. Thank you for explaining it to me!

  • Idk seeing the amount of intellectual dishonesty and lack of integrity people have nowadays I strongly doubt that former hypothesis, I feel like an idiot because I do things the hard way because I believe it to be beneficial for my personal growth while hordes of people claim to be geniuses with less than no information on a subject.

I think the latter is it.

  • Far be it from me to argue with Steinberg, fair enough. I must be wrong.

I guess I just don't see how there was ever a barrier in the first place. The amount of juniors who couldn't code their way out of fizzbuzz who think they are geniuses has exploded in recent years, I largely count myself amongst them too, with job interviews being as competitive as they are, and a big old green commit history being seen as a plus and people buying stars and such, I just don't see how this was anything but an eventuality with or without AI, not unlike the endless barely valid CVE slop too.

  • Even if the rightoids win in Europe simply reducing the megacorp monopolies by just distributing the share is a great thing

  • Idk, but I don't see why commits of shit code from AI are any different from commits to shit code from fleshbags.

    Shit code is shit code.

If the maintainers of the project have their review game on point then shit code will not be in the repo, if they don't, then AI or not, shit code will be in the repo.

So, I see no reason to panic and raise alarm about AI commits.

If anything hopefully some LLM assistance can take the weight off the absolute saints among us that are unpaid maintainers of crucial FOSS repos, like for instance with the whole XZ situation.

Vibecoding or outsourcing your brain to proprietary tech is a choice like how using an assembly line plant to stab yourself in the balls is a choice. You can choose to use tools in non-idiotic ways as well.

I'd be far more concerned over stuff like Immich getting bought out by a company with all sorts of links to the shadiest blokes going amongst the ultra-rich.

    Edit:

Please also see the excellent rebuttal to my take below. I've changed my mind.

  • Voyager sounds pretty rough, try Jerboa instead, that's the good one.

  • Huh? I watched it in the app (Jerboa) and it was no problem, I downloaded it too, and sync'd to my immich server, of course 🤓

  • Human moment

  • I can't help you, it just sucks. You're not the only one though, JADE is dreamt up by utterly deranged boomers who don't have the brain cells to comprehend the obvious and self-evident difference between an explanation and an apology, they are wholly unhinged and often lack basic reading comprehension and literacy, it's a shame there hasn't been more wars and pandemics to thin out their ranks so we don't have to deal with them.

  • Is it joever or has it only bidan?

  • co-op and Waitrose

    I know I missed a few lol. There's M&S too.

    missing the point

    No, you're missing mine.

    Your cheap goods

I've never bought from one of those shoplifters and I've never personally met or seen one, the only place I've heard them mentioned is the internet, I have zero self-interested motivation here, I'm arguing only based on principle and nothing more.

    Out of business

Now you're getting it. I do hope they do go out of business, I hope every single corpo goes out of business and we can fix the world's problems instead of perpetually transferring all our money to the ultra-rich and the elderly boomers who destroyed the world so they could vote for more racism and despair.

Nothing less than total corpo death.

Then we can sail to the stars.

  • That's really cool. Lots of innovation in defense tech these days, a sign of the times to be sure.

Seems like it can output 230 V AC / 50 Hz? Kind of cool alone that it can output AC from a battery, I heard that's kind of difficult to do well?

I wonder how you charge it.
