It's not about raw numbers, more like subgroups, if that makes sense?
Lemmy is a niche place, yes? Skews techie, nerdie, someone very internet heavy. At least that often seems to be an assumption I see about the place. But I don't think it's true, so I would just like to test that assumption, this is just an observation in that test.
I think Lemmy's audience is actually fairly diverse, I also think it skews very young comparatively, for the latter in particular I think this is a good test.
It's also of course possible that the techie, nerdy internet heavy crowd subgroup is big enough that even isolated to that sample, the chance of encountering someone who has seen the image before is actually that small, but nonetheless it's a worthwhile observation.
I'm really curious, has anyone here not seen this image before? Not playing internet gatekeeper, I'm curious about Lemmy demographics. This image was everywhere like 5-7 years ago.
There's enough pressure from European countries at this point regarding age verification, algo manipulation and more that soon it's gonna be more like the American containment zone rather than a great firewall of anywhere
You're so close. And if the deck is already unprofitable, then might they be unwilling to incur further losses on it if significant fundamentals changed?
Also lol are you an employee of Valve or Tim Sweeney or something? Because why would anyone be upset at this, it benefits the consumer in almost every way one can think of. I'm no fan of corporations and Steam has some enshittification in it like forced updates, but come on.
It's funny how this is meant to be right-wing slop to get me outraged about le benefits, but even if this was true (and I believed it was till I read the comments below), I always just took it as a condemnation of our awful economy and wages.
Immigration outrage comes from the powers that be via the internet, but our free falling standard of living is immediately obvious and easily observed to anyone under the age of 50.
The awful shape of our streets and our people is a stark reminder of the fact that less than half the actual population is in full time employment according to ONS (25 mil out of 69m total), combined with non-existant growth since 2008, even when measured in GDP per capita.
The only growth has been in sectors that block growth in other sectors, every well meaning regulation passed by Labour of yore turned into a privatised cottage industry where taxpayer funds are funneled into endless consultations where everyone skims off the top, yet bureaucracy is blamed while no one is accountable for anything when the buildings fall.
This country has two paths forward, the future and a nightmare. For the former - Vote Green.💚✅
Def dualboot just in case. I just finished a dualboot setup myself where I installed MacOS on a partition after shrinking my main LUKS+LVM root+home kali partition that used to span the drive, after that brain surgery tier shuffling I feel a lot better about doing dual boot setups, lmk if you need any help!
P.S. I'd also use Windows 10 if you can, a lot nicer than 11.
And it's not just newbuild housing, the rest are Victorian era crumbling shit holes filled with mold and damp up to your ears.
I've rented """flats"""" that clearly used to be someone's attic or someone's basement and each time it was the most awful place one could imagine, mold falling in chunks, boiler that doesn't work in winter and gas leaks etc. One flat had the floor in the bathroom start caving in due to a slightly blocked drain because there was never meant to be a bathroom in the attic.
The flat I'm in right now is in a modern recently converted office building and had water pouring out the lights in the ceiling due to an illegal modified Airbnb upstairs and it's still the best place I've lived in this country by a mile simply because it is spacious and has sound insulation, unlike other places in Britain you cannot join in phone conversations with your neighbours by simply sharing a wall/ceiling/floor.
Their goal has always been the total non-existence of trans people. They don't actually care about whether it's the right choice for someone or not, they simply do not want it to happen at all.
I do wish downvoters were public so I could block the 4 fuckers who downvoted this, yet said nothing. I guess those types only like public discourse when the platform is rigged for them, and this ain't X.
To add to my point: they will use any and all means to achieve that goal whether it's playing for optics by finding horror stories or convenient grifters to exploit or simply parading ugly looking trans people in the papers to trigger fear in some cis people with particularly feeble minds, or spreading this eliminationist rhetoric once they got enough credibility with the public after millions of dollars spent on non-stop daily alarmist bullshit.
You advocated for banning ready meals because you are crazy, I had to elaborate on it to hopefully get across that your viewpoint is insane and you should not hold it, nor should any sane person hold it.
We can only hope for riots at this point.
