I agree that Ukraine does invaluable good for all of us right now. This Index is simply measuring something different. I assume it would be hard to quantify, measure, and integrate.
[…] or if it builds institutions that support international peace or wellbeing, those are definitely Good Country behaviours, but it's impossible for us to assign them a numerical value, and therefore they cannot be included in the Index.
In conclusion: the Good Country Index neither claims nor attempts to account for everything that countries contribute to or detract from the wellbeing of humanity and the planet. That would be impossible. All it can do is shine a torch in the corner of a very large, very dark field: but that's surely better than leaving it totally dark.
I have no idea how it feels there or what the real or honest user percentage is like. Subjectively occasionally I still see xitter. Maybe my impression of importance and use as a source for press/media is outdated.
Still, it seems to remain very relevant in some areas and circles, like vtubing, Japan, Ukraine, and Russia.
I assume it's the same for other areas. The recent reporting about artist outcry and leaving xitter because of their AI remixing is another indication that is still significantly popular, apparently.
Whether it's 50% bots or not - if we assume the other half to be real and honest users that's still a lot and relevant.
Value is a superficial, arbitrary concept. Their value view is different from other people's. Zoom out far enough, and you can argue that nothing has value. Look around, and you can attribute value to many things, countless times.
So, value to whom and in whose eyes? They can't find value to and for others.
A picture on the wall is practically in use 24/7, right? My grandma gifted it to me many years ago. It's hanging in my living room, above my sofa. Kinda artsy, semi abstract, and with structure. Decent size.
Does picture always mean photograph? What's the correct term for an art piece?
Maybe when we got an electronic train thing and we built the tracks and delivered the rest of the presents with it. (A bit across the room or however long the tracks reached.)
Now I wonder if that's even a correct memory. I doubt you can put a lot of load or size on those trains lol.
Quoting the quote from the article (so it's more obvious and accessible here):
The Indie Game Awards have a hard stance on the use of gen AI throughout the nomination process and during the ceremony itself. When it was submitted for consideration, a representative of Sandfall Interactive agreed that no gen AI was used in the development of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. In light of Sandfall Interactive confirming the use of gen AI art in production on the day of the Indie Game Awards 2025 premiere, this does disqualify Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from its nomination. While the assets in question were patched out and it is a wonderful game, it does go against the regulations we have in place. As a result, the IGAs nomination committee has agreed to officially retract both the Debut Game and Game of the Year awards.
I guess 'wall of text' is something different for me than for you, or those you speak of here. For me, it's when the long text has no newlines or paragraphs, making it inaccessible and hard to read or scan.
I didn't even think of full-screen applications having to relayout. It's not like every screen is the same size or dimension, either. I guess it could be what they were referring to.
I didn't read their statement as addressing the people of the countries but the countries themselves, meaning their acting governments.
