  • But then why mention it at all? It seems to me to send a contradictory message that we want these companies to listen to the will of the people, but also oh no, why did they do that. Sure, OP doesn't mention it again, but it is the basis for the entire post.

Netanyahu's Isreal is basically a regime of criminals committing atrocities, so anything that fucks them over, I'm down with. And to be clear, I'm not saying OP is supporting them in any way. It just seems like there should be better examples than this specific case where a company is doing what we've been demanding that we could use to get everyone away from reliance on American big tech.

Off the top of my head, Google's recent announcement that they're going to block sideloading apps that aren't approved by them, or if we wanna use MS, their whole Recall feature in Windows is a horrible invasion of privacy, and is why I just finished switching to Linux. Those would be far better topic starters for this discussion, IMO.

  • A huge number of people have been boycotting and pressuring Microsoft to get them to do exactly this because Israel is using their platform to further their insane genocide. I haven't seen any resistance to this idea, but now you're saying this shouldn't happen? While I agree that everyone should reduce their reliance on American big tech, this specific case of MS finally listening to a large amount of their non-Isreali customers isn't the example to use to further this goal.

  • No, Doug Bowser Jr is terrible and always has been. He needs to have his 7 other kids, who were all around before Jr, to become co-CEOs.

  • I'd have been happy with a headline that was simply, "So long, gay Bowser!"

  • Lisa needs braces!

  • Holy crap, is that a Sledge Hammer reference in the wild?! I didn't think anyone else remembered that show!

  • I'm aware, but usually people use something large and heavy as their example of the thing to be thrown, because they wouldn't be able to throw it far. The short or non-existent throw distance acts as a metaphor for the lack of trust. For example, I wouldn't trust Google farther than I can throw one of their servers. Those clowns are absolutely not to be trusted.

  • I don't know, man. Pixel phones are pretty light, so I bet you could throw one pretty far.

  • Yeah, I can see that. It wouldn't surprise me if that's exactly what it was.

  • I've seen several images similar to this one today and all of them have random words censored. I don't know if whoever is making these is trying to be funny, but it's stupid and is a distraction from their message.

  • I've been using Jellyfin on both the Fire Stick and Sheild for over 2 years and haven't encountered any issues with transcoding, subtitles, or anything else. You just launch the app and everything just works. And I've got a couple of very non technical remote users who have been using it flawlessly.

  • Oh dear

  • There's not a single illustration in that wall of text. 0/10, would not make a sandwich out of it.

  • Damn, dude! 😂

  • I don't think that's the case because that clown always looks like that. Since I became aware of him at the start of this administration, every single picture I've seen of him has that stupid l look on his face.

  • So I just tried to replicate this issues two ways:

    1. I disconnected from the VPN, shut down the app, then restarted it and reconnected. I was able to establish a connection and checking my IP and for DNS leaks both showed I had a solid connection.
    2. I rebooted the PC and when I was back on the desktop, I started up the app and it connected almost immediately after hitting the quick connect button. I tested again and it passed.

Maybe they've since corrected the issues you were seeing?

  • Are the data drives completely full? If not, you could potentially shrink the partition using something like GParted, then create a new ext4 or whatever file system you want with the newly unallocated space. Then, move some data from the ntfs partition to the new ext4 partition. Once the new partition is full, shrink the ntfs one, expand the ext4 one, and copy over more data. It'll probably be tedious, but it should be doable and save you from having to buy a new drive.

  • That's not great! Come to think of it, I don't think I've stopped the application or restarted the PC since I installed it a couple of days ago. I'm gonna test it after work today and see if it behaves similarly and I'll report back what I find.

  • What's broken about them? I just installed the package from the AUR a couple of days ago and it seems to be working fine for me.
